karlakolumna (karlako) | 9 comments Hey there again,
since nobody complained about the other post regarding the free read "A Better Place" on amazon and my choice of place for posting it, here I am again, with another book. :)

Dawn of Darkness by Daniel A. Kaine is currently available for free on amazon. I think it sounds very intriguing, although I'm not entirely sure if it really fits into the YA category. Well, decide for yourselves.

Kaje Harper | 17376 comments This is a wonderful book, and has a very YA feel. There is one scene of M/M sex near the beginning of the book that I would consider over the limit for some people for YA. I personally would let my 16 yr old read it, but only because I don't censor her.

Also, be aware that it is the first in a series, with a kind of need-the-next-book-now ending. And since Daniel didn't intend the series to be YA, I don't know how the explicitness level of next book will be. However a great book for adults who like the style and feel of YA.

Daniel Kaine (danielakaine) | 20 comments Hi. Thanks for spreading the word. Just wanted to expand on a couple of points Kaje mentioned.

Yes, I never intended any of the series to be YA. But then, what is YA really? I think it differs for everyone. There is a sex scene, which does go into some detail but without being overtly explicit like many M/M romance. So, your milage may vary when it comes to whether or not you classify it as YA.

As for the second book... let's just say that in the current draft the characters do get intimate on... *starts counting on fingers* three ocassions. Again, not written in an explicit way, but they do get up to a bit more than they did in the first book. Just thought you might like to know :)

Kaje Harper | 17376 comments Thanks Daniel. As long as it stays similar to the level of the first book, than I would say the series is okay for older teens (and would be enjoyed by them.)

And I hope that draft is getting close to done, sir, because I want it - soon please!

Byron (byft) Daniel... I am seriously thinking about nomming this book for BotM in April.. I have mentioned it to Sammy and Kaje..

And I have to support Kaje's assessment that it really is an "OMG - Where's book 2???" book...

Daniel... Stop writing other stuff and get editing ASAP......................................... ~glares~ bloody writers keep me hanging for the story...

It is great - I'm just not quite sure we can propose it for the group with members who are 13 and 14 years old. I mean, we can sure endorse it here, but the BotM has to be suitable for all members, I think.

Daniel--I loved this book as you know--and I cannot wait to read more of your work! And while we may not be able to put this one on as a book of the month due to our very, very young readers please know we support you in every way!!! We still have the BOTM under discussion.

Regardless of that--You are a very talented man--and we are thrilled about the upcoming book in the series!

Oh, btw, the free offer has ended now, I guess this time it really was a one-day-only offer.
