Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Yes, it was a grim story, Nina.

I'm coming to the end of The Sister by Poppy Adams. I'm still not sure where it's going. Strange story with strange characters.

Is that the book that was the basis of the Kubrick film (1961)?

Nina | 6069 comments "Paths of Glory," by Jeffery Archer is a novel based on the true life story of Goerge Mallory who attempted to climb Mt. Everest and to this day it is a mystery whether he was successful. But only after you have turned the last page of this extraordinary novel, inspired by this true story will you be able to decide if George Mallory's name should be added to the list of legends, in which case another name would have to be removed. A reviewer adds, "Paths of Glory," is truly a masterpiece.Archer also wrote, "First Among Equals," "Kane and Abel" "Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less," among others.
