Jim O'Donnell | 41 comments I'm working on Part II of my Travel Resource Library.

This week I'm working on Finland, Mexico, Japan, Turkey and Egypt. Please drop by an offer your suggested MUST READS for understanding these countries.

Thank you!

Mary (traveler8) | 10 comments For Finland, please read The Finn Family Moomintroll, a beloved children's/family book in Finland and certainly a national treasure.

Jim O'Donnell | 41 comments Got it! THanks Mary. My kids are half Finnish and love the moomins.

Murray Gunn (murraygunn) | 20 comments Jim, I went to school in Japan and worked there for a number of years. I find most books on the country laughable, but if you can handle meatier works, Lost Japan and The Chrysanthemum and the Sword: Patterns of Japanese Culture are very informative. The latter is anthropology rather than travel, but helps to understand 'face' and duty, which still drive much of the culture.
