Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments I know this isn't 100% relevant to science fiction but I think it is relevant to the inspiration of future generations of science fiction writers and the public in general.

Found this off a link that linked to this site's post

To quote tumblrpigeon:

Wednesday, Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson and NASA head Charles Bolden presented speeches on the importance of science funding in our country to the U.S. Senate Committee of Science. Only 4 out of the 25 members of the Senate Science Committee even bothered to show up

If you’re not going to be present when two of the most influential people to the STEM fields are there to present their 5 minute speeches, maybe you shouldn’t be on the damn Senate Science committee. I hope every one of those senators loses their job

STEM = science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden's testimony. Takes a little over 30mins into the video for it to get to the testimony. I've made sure the link starts there.

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Dr. Tyson gives his normal brilliant take on UFO's and suggests what you should do next time you get abducted by aliens in order to ensure people believe you.

To continue the Dr. Tyson video fest.

Dharmakirti | 942 comments This past autumn, my sister and I visted NYC and attempted to track down Dr. Tyson at the Hayden Planetarium as we are both fans of his. No luck though.
And shame of Dr. Tyson for what he did to Pluto (I kid)

Random (rand0m1s) We were once dreamers, creators, builders. Now we are passive consumers, feeding on the dreams and creations of others. We have become parasites, content to allow someone else to determine our paths, to dictate our futures.

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2670 comments What surprises me is that they can actually find 25 Senators smart enough to make up a Science Committee. Perhaps the 4 who showed up are the only ones who make the grade :)
