Our assignment from Doug this month was to read one of the 2012 award winners or honors (Printz, Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, etc...)

Add your book to the bookshelf on our group's main page and tag it with "March2012" and "Award Winners".

We will demonstrate this at the Librarians meeting.

Ten Little Caterpillars by Bill Martin, Jr
Picture book. A visually appealing book to use in lieu of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Belly Up by Stuart Gibbs [Children GIB]

This children’s book is a hilarious mystery staring 12 year old Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt Fitzroy, who is attempting to solve the murder of Henry the Hippo at the FunJungle. It would make for a good recommendation for a reluctant reader because of the short chapters. A Mark Twain Award Nominee. Very fun!

Great wordless book for children of all ages. Beautifully drawn and emotionally evocative and appealing. 2012 Caldecott winner, too!

Winter animals beautifully depicted under the snow while girl and her father walk over the snow and discuss winter's changes. Somewhat monochromatic (not recommended for very young).
