Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Don't be terribly jealous, CaroB, it's muggy and raining hahaha my girls want to go swim anyway. I might take them as long as its not thundering. I'm not sure. They'll whine if we don't swim LOL

message 53: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments if it's muggy and they're going to get wet in the rain anyway, I say go for it, lol!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Sorry, ladies, I haven't been on-line lately; I'll update your challenges in the next day or two. I've had workmen at my house last week and will again tomorrow. I've been under the weather this week-end, plus I have had company. I would say "when it rains it pours" - but that's not even funny as now my kitchen ceiling has sprung a leak! This will surely entail more workmen and money! Eep!

message 55: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Oh no, Lisa Kay. Well they say that things happen in threes, so sick + company + roof leak = it'll all be over with soon, hopefully! Wishing you a speedy recovery, and inexpensive repairs! Big hugs :-)

message 56: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Yuck, Lisa Kay! I hope all the work gets done speedily and you're feeling better soon!

Rachel the Book Harlot Good luck with everything, Lisa Kay. I hope you feel better. :)

message 58: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Thanks, ladies! On iPod/Touch. Regular workmen gone (done early), plumber to be here in two hours.

message 59: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments are you feeling better?

message 60: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'm feeling better... but my house is sick. It has black mold under the kitchen sink! Eep. They had to call out the emergency guys to "contain" it. Looks like this is going to really cost me, as they will be ripping out cabinets and walls. Also, for some (strange) reason, the water drained into the wall and the floor, so they also have to pull up the linoleum! Eep! All I wanted was to put in a new refrigerator and it looks like I'm going to get a kitchen remodel.

Plus, they are putting a cramp in my reading and on-line activity! We spent an hour searching for the access to the crawl space under the house. Still can't find it. I know I have one b/c my ex took pictures of what is under there. Also, it is the law to have one. So, now they are talking about making one in the hall closet under the stairs. All the junk is pulled out an in my newly cleaned family room. Ugh!

message 61: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments OMG, what a mess! OTOH, you can't have that black mold around. Talk about making you sick. Yuk. Try not to think about what this is going to end up costing you. Try to focus on a nice, new kitchen!

message 62: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Okay, I'll try, Sandra J! They showed up this morning, but not in the HAZ-Mat suits. They'll come back in about an hour in those. **sigh** They did find the crawl space (right where I said it was!) when they brought in the contractor. Still, they think they are going to have to cut another one closer to the kitchen. Sure just add another $500 to the bill! Why not?

message 63: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Ouch Lisa Kay. But consider what your health is worth :-)

message 64: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yeah, really, CaroB. They did eventually get into Haz-Mat suits. Eep!

message 65: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments That's scary we probably got it all over the place here in this house. The upstairs shower used to leak and make water drip down the walls into the downstairs bathroom, and since we're poor we just shut the water off to the upstairs shower and that's it. I'd hate to see what's behind the drywall! Good thing we're moving this fall, I can't wait! LK sorry bout all the problems, just one thing after another huh?

message 66: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, yes! Major plumping problems! They found more issues. Two major breaks - not cracks - like pipes two to four inches apart. They have three huge fans going for three days to dry it all out.

message 67: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Wow what happened to make 'em break like that? Did you not have water?

message 68: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments They said the binding or plastic straps holding them up broke and without that support...

message 69: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Yikes. :o

message 70: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Glad you are feeling better Lisa Kay. Sorry your house is so sick!

message 71: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Thanks, Lauren!

Rachel the Book Harlot Lisa Kay, how is it going with the house?

message 73: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Getting there, Rachel. They have it "contained" - as in sealed off. They also have hema-filters though-out the house...so, no, in answer to your possible question, I haven't moved out. I'm just not spending time in that vicinity; however, I've thought of leaving. The sound of the fans and filters are about to drive me batty now as they've been running continuously for days. Lord only knows what my electric bill will be!! Supposed to be turned off on Monday.

I will have to have an environmental inspection done before they can continue to re-build. They plan this for Monday. That will cost me an additional $550, including lab fees. Yes, it will take bit longer than first thought. They said three weeks, but I'm not counting on it.

message 74: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Gosh, Lisa Kay, my heart goes out to you for the inconvenience and the unexpected cost for this.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Thanks, Susan!

Rachel the Book Harlot Yikes, Lisa Kay, I'm so sorry.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I need to rob a bank. Anyone want to help me, & be in for a split of the take?

message 79: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Now I've sprung a leak in my front yard. Man-on-man! My plumbing is all going to hell at the same time.

Rachel the Book Harlot Oh my gosh, Lisa Kay! I'm so sorry! Are they going to have to dig up the yard?

message 81: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yup. All the way to the curb. This time I'm putting in copper. Going to cost me.

message 82: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) | 718 comments So I've been out of the loop for awhile - busy @ work during the Summer living in a tourist town. BUT, OH MY Lisa - I hope you're doing okay through all this turmoil you've been through with your house! I know that all this has got to be pricey! (I'll help ya rob the bank hehe, I need some cash myself!)

message 83: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments hmmm... i'll drive the getaway car!

message 84: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments ... unless the car has left-hand drive, in which case, we'll get caught :-p

message 85: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, my! CaroB, do you drive on the left hand side of the road? LOL! I hadn't thought of that.

message 86: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Okay, Hayley! I need to do it soon b/c they want me to get the appliances now, so they had the correct measurements. Eep! Me and what bank? Or bank robbers.

message 87: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) | 718 comments That stinks new appliances!?!? That's gonna be so expensive.. I can only imagine =(

message 88: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Is any of this covered by your homeowner's insurance?

message 89: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I didn't file with them, Susan, b/c with something this major they usually drop the insured.

message 90: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments gotcha! I just thought that maybe the mold damage may be covered and it would help you offset the cost.

message 91: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Nope.

Man-oh-man! I just went online to price appliances. **smacks forehead** What is with these places not giving prices. I found some, but I don't like them. LOL!

message 92: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments boo on the price, yaaay for new stuff :-)

message 93: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) | 718 comments Yeah appliances are hefty in price nowadays. We were looking at getting a new washer/dryer set and wow at the prices LOL

message 94: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (last edited Jul 19, 2012 01:50PM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Okay, were are all the workmen? I've been ready for them since 7:30 a.m. They said they were coming - multiple groups. Alas, no one is here!

message 95: by Sunny☼ (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) We did discuss your apparrel in another thread...Have you tried that yet. They would be there in no time.

message 96: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) | 718 comments Oh no. Its 130 here, not sure what time it is there, but they are late!

LMBO! Very funny, ☼Sunny☼! Hey, if it would cut down on the cost of my appliances, I'd do it!

message 98: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Well, one group showed up. But where are the others? Must be a party going on somewhere. I want these hemafilters turned off and the sealed area taken now.

message 99: by Sunny☼ (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) Ah Lisa, It seems so much worse when it is dragged out unnecessarily. so sorry for your troubles. But even under this stress you found a minute to laugh. Great lady.

message 100: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Thanks, ☼Sunny☼! I have to think about the finished product. ☺
