Don't be terribly jealous, CaroB, it's muggy and raining hahaha my girls want to go swim anyway. I might take them as long as its not thundering. I'm not sure. They'll whine if we don't swim LOL
if it's muggy and they're going to get wet in the rain anyway, I say go for it, lol!
Sorry, ladies, I haven't been on-line lately; I'll update your challenges in the next day or two. I've had workmen at my house last week and will again tomorrow. I've been under the weather this week-end, plus I have had company. I would say "when it rains it pours" - but that's not even funny as now my kitchen ceiling has sprung a leak! This will surely entail more workmen and money! Eep!
Oh no, Lisa Kay. Well they say that things happen in threes, so sick + company + roof leak = it'll all be over with soon, hopefully! Wishing you a speedy recovery, and inexpensive repairs! Big hugs :-)

I'm feeling better... but my house is sick. It has black mold under the kitchen sink! Eep. They had to call out the emergency guys to "contain" it. Looks like this is going to really cost me, as they will be ripping out cabinets and walls. Also, for some (strange) reason, the water drained into the wall and the floor, so they also have to pull up the linoleum! Eep! All I wanted was to put in a new refrigerator and it looks like I'm going to get a kitchen remodel. Plus, they are putting a cramp in my reading and on-line activity! We spent an hour searching for the access to the crawl space under the house. Still can't find it. I know I have one b/c my ex took pictures of what is under there. Also, it is the law to have one. So, now they are talking about making one in the hall closet under the stairs. All the junk is pulled out an in my newly cleaned family room. Ugh!
OMG, what a mess! OTOH, you can't have that black mold around. Talk about making you sick. Yuk. Try not to think about what this is going to end up costing you. Try to focus on a nice, new kitchen!
Okay, I'll try, Sandra J! They showed up this morning, but not in the HAZ-Mat suits. They'll come back in about an hour in those. **sigh** They did find the crawl space (right where I said it was!) when they brought in the contractor. Still, they think they are going to have to cut another one closer to the kitchen. Sure just add another $500 to the bill! Why not?

That's scary we probably got it all over the place here in this house. The upstairs shower used to leak and make water drip down the walls into the downstairs bathroom, and since we're poor we just shut the water off to the upstairs shower and that's it. I'd hate to see what's behind the drywall! Good thing we're moving this fall, I can't wait! LK sorry bout all the problems, just one thing after another huh?
Oh, yes! Major plumping problems! They found more issues. Two major breaks - not cracks - like pipes two to four inches apart. They have three huge fans going for three days to dry it all out.
Wow what happened to make 'em break like that? Did you not have water?
They said the binding or plastic straps holding them up broke and without that support...

Getting there, Rachel. They have it "contained" - as in sealed off. They also have hema-filters though-out the house...so, no, in answer to your possible question, I haven't moved out. I'm just not spending time in that vicinity; however, I've thought of leaving. The sound of the fans and filters are about to drive me batty now as they've been running continuously for days. Lord only knows what my electric bill will be!! Supposed to be turned off on Monday.I will have to have an environmental inspection done before they can continue to re-build. They plan this for Monday. That will cost me an additional $550, including lab fees. Yes, it will take bit longer than first thought. They said three weeks, but I'm not counting on it.
Gosh, Lisa Kay, my heart goes out to you for the inconvenience and the unexpected cost for this.

So I've been out of the loop for awhile - busy @ work during the Summer living in a tourist town. BUT, OH MY Lisa - I hope you're doing okay through all this turmoil you've been through with your house! I know that all this has got to be pricey! (I'll help ya rob the bank hehe, I need some cash myself!)

That stinks new appliances!?!? That's gonna be so expensive.. I can only imagine =(
Is any of this covered by your homeowner's insurance?
I didn't file with them, Susan, b/c with something this major they usually drop the insured.
gotcha! I just thought that maybe the mold damage may be covered and it would help you offset the cost.

Yeah appliances are hefty in price nowadays. We were looking at getting a new washer/dryer set and wow at the prices LOL
Okay, were are all the workmen? I've been ready for them since 7:30 a.m. They said they were coming - multiple groups. Alas, no one is here!

Ah Lisa, It seems so much worse when it is dragged out unnecessarily. so sorry for your troubles. But even under this stress you found a minute to laugh. Great lady.
