Choosing a Canadian author for this rationale, was very difficult. In my opinion its nearly impossible to hear or even find people mentioning anything about amazing Canadian authors. Nonetheless, I managed to find a Canadian author that I am interested in reading books from. The author I have chosen is Dionne Brand, she is well known for her novel, “What We All Long For.” Dionne Brand piqued my interest in several ways because I am impressed that she is a Canadian poet, writing from Toronto, and won a few awards for her novels. In my opinion, Canadian authors do not get much recognition when it comes to writing novels, therefore, when I distinguish between Dionne Brand and other Canadian authors, who have won various awards, it makes me feel more excited to read their novels. However, Dionne Brand seems to be the most relevant author for me to acknowledge at the moment because it is possible that I may be able to relate to her novel.
