Yonina In the whole books series everything takes place in Panem which used to be North and South America.what i am wondering is WHAT happened to Europe, Asia, Africa Oceania and WHY didnt they help the East when the Capitol took over? Any thoughts?

Marisa I think that for the book to be so focused on Panem there must have been a WWIII. But we really can't know the foreign policy because the book was not based in the capital where all of the government headquarters were located. So maybe there were relationships with Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania but we can't know for sure because we weren't reading about a capital citizen.

Allie hmmmm never thought about that. I don't know... Maybe they wanted to stay out of the way??? Hmmmm wow I'll have to think about that....

anna marie They were flooded, after Climate Change and Global Warming happened. You know, due to Sea levels rising. That's why the Capitol "saved" them all, as they rose out of the natural disasters. So the East couldn't have helped because they, unfortunately drowned.

Allie huh... Wow

Kristen I have wondered about that too.
Did it specifically say the climate change wiped out the rest of the world? I only remember it saying about North America.
I would think that parts of Asia and Africa would be in a much better position than the US, considering the land mass is much bigger.

anna marie Yeah, I think realistically that's true, but in Suzanne Collin's world, It left North America isolated and alone in the sea. But yeah. I'm pretty sure that they discuss the "Dark Days" in the first book at some point, and probably in Mockingjay too.
