Don't you hate when you just can't get into a book by an author you normally really like? It's such a let-down!

I really didn't like The Strain. I'm a huge fan of Del Toro's movies, so to have this first work of fiction be such a let down was double-disappointing. Wooden characters and a cliche plot enlivened only by a slightly novel vampire.
