I really liked the Hunger Games. I've had several of my friend who read YA not want to read it. They didn't like the overall concept, but with the movie coming out, they finally read it and LOVED it. Has anyone else read it?

Tammy ~Witching Hour Reads~ (03tammy-lynn) | 327 comments I have not read it for the same reason as your friends, I don't think I will, for me its the whole pitting kids against kids for a bitter survival to the end. Again I have not read the series, I am just going on what I have heard, from others as well as the previews I have seen.

Whitney Burnett | 2 comments Mortal instruments!! :) I'm in love with Jace. Lol

message 8: by Anna (last edited May 03, 2012 06:51AM) (new)

Anna Mortal Instruments is excellent: I also loved The Hunger Games. The Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness is excellent. It doesn't seem to be well known in the US but it's won lots of prizes in the UK and every teeenager I have handed it to has loved it. Its a dystopian novel and very interstingly written -other than that you will have to read it as the first 50 pages create a strong impression and I don't want to creat a spoiler. The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness

Haven't read that one, though her werecat books are very good.

Kylie (xxxjthmxxx) | 2 comments I'm enjoying the Escape from Furnace Series by Alexander Gordon Smith. It's one of those series that you can't stop thinking about. A Dark, tragic, and horrifying story of a teenager who's charged with murdering his best friend and is sentenced for life without parole to one of the sickest and twisted juvenile facilities on earth. Hundreds of feet deep in the earth's crust, this prison is probably the closest thing to meeting the Devil.

Kirsty Bicknell (kirsty_vizard) | 38 comments Its got to of be Infernal Devices/Mortal Instruments for me . . .Clare just has a way of writing in which I can totally loose myself . . .I would have said House of Night series but the character of Zoey has just become too insipid :-(

message 25: by Susan (new)

Susan (symphonie) | 16 comments My favorite YA series is one that doesn't seem to get much publicity - Lili St. Crow's Strange Angels.

These are great! Harry Potter speaks for itself. Infernal Devices/Mortal Instruments are one of my favorites. I've met Cassandra Clare once; she really takes her time to answer questions for her readers. If she comes back to my town (which she usually does at least once a year) I'll have to get her newest two books signed. As for House of Night series, I liked the beginning books. The series turned for me when the authors changed their format in writing. I still like it but it's not top on my list any more. And Susan, I've read Strange Angel. I think it's a series right? I haven't read any sequel books but that's from lack of time. I enjoyed Lili St. Crow's book.

I love them too!

message 28: by Susan (new)

Susan (symphonie) | 16 comments Strange Angels is a five book series that stands out for me because it's well written and very different from the other vampire series that are popular right now.

I agree on Soul Screamers - love that series!

message 29: by Kim (last edited Jul 05, 2012 05:53AM) (new)

Kim Peek I, as many, loved The Hunger Games trilogy and of course Harry Potter was a favorite also. A couple that I also enjoyed was from James Patterson, which was the Maximum Ride series and the Witch & Wizard series, though I haven't read the third book yet.
