First let me thank you all for inviting me in this group.

Welcome, Jeffrey! Nice to meet you. :) I definitely understand what you mean about the promoting and the marketing wearing you down, too.

Hi, Keith - here are some on my list to be read or have read:
Master of the Moors
The Wolfen
Ravenous
Bestial
Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series
others would depend on how dark or erotic you're looking for - I don't think 'the' great werewolf story has been written yet, but there are still some great reads out there.
best ~ K.

And from where I am ready to move!
I'm Tim, and I especially enjoy the early "occult detectives," such as John Silence and Carnacki. (Speaking of, I can recommend the series of these characters offered by Coachwhip Publications. Visit http://www.coachwhipbooks.com/themes/... to see their two-in-one volumes.)
I'm even dabbling in creating my own character along these lines, and if you have any interest, you can read some of Vera Van Slyke's investigations into the paranormal by visiting my blog, http://timprasil.wordpress.com/. Be sure to swing by the Snazzy Downloads page there.
I look forward to getting to know y'all. In the meantime, could someone loan me an electric fan?

I post all genres of any authors with the exception of hard scifi.
Wanting to give all the new members a huge Hello!!! We are so glad you have joined our group! We have things happening all over the place! So jump in whenever you are ready :)

Hey there Daniella, fellow California-ite and spec fic fan. Great to meecha! Everyone else, too, that I've missed over the past few days.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've put the entire pilot episode of the GAMELAND series up here on GR for free download (it's also available free pretty much everywhere else except Amazon, though I'm working on it). You can find it here:
GAMELAND: Deep Into The Game

I am an American ex-pat with a Ph.D. in Balkan History (UCLA, 1995) who has lived and worked in the former Yugoslavia for over 18 years (Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Croatia, etc). In addition to my work as an historian, editor and political analyst, I have recently e-published a novel ("Kiss of the Butterfly" -- paranormal/horror/historical fiction) set largely in the former Yugoslavia during the 1990s. It is based on my research into Balkan folklore and history, as well as my experiences in the region during the wars. Although the book begins in 1476, much of it takes place in Serbia and Bosnia, with assorted Balkan oddities.

Saul,
Please let me know your thoughts when you finish it. I always like to hear what people think and whether or not they were able to connect with the book.

Welcome Danniella, James and Laine! we are so happy you have joined and hope that you find this group fun and useful!

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to hearing what people have to say.

Hi Tom,
Welcome to our Group :)
Welcome new members! I'm one of the moderators. We have a friendly group with lots going on. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask:)

Also, as far as good ghost stories go, I can recommend The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. I feel like I'm constantly singing this book's praises, but it's really tremendous!

Welcome to the group, Mikhail! And congratulations on your first book, as well! :)

..... I'm a bookworm, I love reading books anything YA, New adult or Adult... I'm interested in review requests, contact me from goodreads if you'd like:) Ummm... what else..? I'm Saggitarius, I'm a brunette and I write my own stories (BUT I can't ever finish them-what can I say, I'm bored very easily:P)
Well, I don't have any favorite genres, but i read mostly New adult. I'm into paranormal -supernatural stuff and I believe a good book should capture your soul from the first pages, with a thrilling and unexpected plot. Well, that's it for me;) Happy to join this group , btw...!

Welcome Bob. Stephen King is one of my favorite authors too.

of course:D Thanks so much:)

Hello! It's always good to meet a fellow English Lit major! :) I graduated with my degree in 2011 from Ohio State, and I'm so happy I did. It's a great field to study. Who is your favorite author?
And welcome to Bob, as well! Can't go wrong with Stephen King!
Hello there people. I'm completely new to goodreads, and have found navigating the site a little difficult. It seems the focus is on the groups, so I've decided to join this one. I'd be interested to know the run down of what goes on here, you know, in a nutshell. I like the look of this group though because I'm a horror writer who is looking to self publish early next year :)

Im Deborah Palumbo. I have 8 novels published. I'm The author of The Undeparted series. The 3rd book will be released soon! The Undeparted
The Ascent of the Undeparted,

Shane,
Welcome to the group. As a horror writer you should be aware that the true horror will be trying to promote your self-published work. :-))
Best
James

I'm having trouble figuring out your degree of seriousness here.

LOL!!! It's not that bad. :P Welcome to the group, too! :)

Welcome, Deborah! Good luck on the third book in your series!!

Thanks for having me in the group. I've been a life-long horror fan, and have been doing quite a bit of writing in recent years. Actually, I write every day because I'm a fulltime journalist, but with fiction, I've been writing horror, erotica, a romantic thriller mystery, and even a religious inspirational novel.
I spent the past three years coaching a high school girls basketball varsity team, but gave that up after this past season to devote myself to my writing. That was a difficult thing to do, since coaching is one of the great joys of my life.
I've had my short horror work published fairly widely. At present I have one published novel, The Claiming, which is the romantic mystery thriller I mentioned, and I have a a group of horror short stories being published in my Nine Weeks of Halloween series. The top selling work in that series thus far as been The Dark Secret of Warren House http://amzn.to/OYCkE4 If you're interested in reading more about me, you can check out my blog at http://johnpeters2.blogspot.com/

Greetings, John! Nice to meet you, and congrats on your publications! I hope you have a great time around here; it's a swell group. :)
Wow, there are some very busy writers here! I have just published my first paranormal suspense thriller. I've been writing screenplays for quite awhile, with moderate success.
My novel, Spectral Witness, is based on a screenplay written for a director who asked me to write it...then never read it haha. However. It got great feedback from other industry pros (I used to work in film, now in health care) and I decided to novelize it because I love the story.
A funny thing happened during the writing of the novel. I discovered a much richer story and am now so GRATEFUL it was not produced as a TV movie for Lifetime six years ago.
Anyway...I am really impressed by some of the hard working writers I see in here, with multiple books to their credit! They make me feel positively slothful!
Thanks! Looks like a great group.

Blood Memory

it was meant as a tongue-in-cheek comment on the difficulties of self-publishing.
I wish you the best of luck.

I am just now wading into Goodreads and this group seems perfect. I love paranormal. My novel Lykaia is a Paranormal thriller. It was published recently by Spore Press.
And I have co-written a Zombie Apocalypse novel with 3 writer friends. That is now signed with a publisher as well and should be out in the Spring of 2013.
I'd love to get to know you all and just discuss the genre as a reader of the genre :)

Welcome new members and friends. We have lots going on here so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. We also branched out to Facebook, twitter and have an internet site.

Welcome Juli. Congrats on your books and good luck!

I, accidentally, write horror stories. I say 'accidentally' for that's not the only genre I'm interested into. Lately, I wrote an erotic thriller to feel the chill of a changing wind ... and it works.
I'm not going to bore you to death with self-promoting my books and telling you how much am I good in writing them. For that, you can judge by yourself by visiting my profile here on Goodreads.
I'm here to have a look at what people likes in fantasy fiction, to feel again the same emotions I felt when I was just a reader. Marketing, sales, public relations, interviews, and blog posts are nice ... and flattering. But they are wearing away that sheen gloom of magic I experienced when I cracked open a new book.
So, let's enjoy our company, and I'll do my best to help you promote this new endeavor.
My Best
