Troy Lambert (authrotroy) | 2 comments Hi I am an author and a reader. This is my kind of stuff! I love the Paranormal thrillers.

message 105: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm an indie author with about 6 full-length titles and three short stories under my belt. I like to write Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Occasionally I like to throw in some erotica, just to keep things interesting. I found this group recently and I like that it is indie friendly. I won't spam about my books at all but I do hope as you get to know me, you'll want to take a peek.

Great to meet you all!

☀Rachael☀ (jimbunni) Hey I'm Rachael, I'm a stay at home mum who likes to read whenever my nearly 3 year old lets me! I prefer UF over PNR because I enjoy escaping to a magical mystical world but there can be a little love interest on the side! My current fabe authors are Molly Harper, Charlaine Harris, Stacia Kane and Rachel Vincent but ask me again next week and they may have changed!

message 108: by Mike (new)

Mike Voyce (mikevoyce) | 2 comments Hi. I would like to introduce EDWARD, it’s not horror, or fantasy, or even fiction. It is a novel, a love story, an adventure story, and the deepest regression into a single past life ever written. By the way, it blows the lid off Tudor ‘history’ and gives the mysticism of relics, including the Grail and Druid Glass. In the interactive https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... edition it has video clips, music, a genealogy and many links to people and places.

Stephen Henning (henningopolis) | 16 comments Howdy fellow errrr Horrors? Paranormals?

Have we already had a discussion group to decide what to call ourselves?

It's nice to join the group. I would talk more, but something has just tapped on my window. I know it's dark out there, and I live in a cabin in the middle of the woods, near where that poor family were murdered 200 years ago and their bodies were never found .... but don't worry about me, I'll just pop out to investigate.

I'll be right back....

Rebecca, it's such a good book! I hope you enjoy it when you get around to reading it. I will never look at a heart-shaped box the same again; it makes Valentine's Day a little unnerving, LOL!

message 112: by Candyland (new)

Candyland | 3 comments Hi! I'm Candy, and I'm pretty new to GoodReads still (just joined up last week).

Horror is sort of my guilty genre, in the sense that I love it, I read/watch it voraciously...and then I get freaked out about walking across dark rooms for a couple of days afterwards. It hurts so good :D

I'm joining up for the love of the genre, and because I'm hoping to snag some good recommendations. That's the thing about this genre that I don't like, though - you have to dig through quite a bit of quartz to find the real diamonds.

Glad to meet you all!

~ Candy

message 113: by Daniel (new)

Daniel O'Donnell (evildonald) you have to dig through quite a bit of quartz to find the real diamonds.

Yeah, I'm REALLY looking for some diamonds. I've read enough quartz.

Greetings, Candy! Nice to meet you. I totally know what you mean about trying to find the diamonds, though! There are some serious duds in this genre (though I wonder if that's the case in every genre), but there are some real diamonds out there, too. I'm very picky about what I read!

And hello, Erin! Nice to meet you, too, and thank you for the friend request. :)

Welcome everyone! It's so great that you found our group. As for finding the gem, I love when I pick up a book and it's so great I can't put it down. I haven't found a book like that for a while and my genre crosses over many times.

Erik Tavares (estavares) | 9 comments Greetings!

My name is Erik and it's great to find a group that includes writers too. Though I love to read, I look forward to hearing about others' experiences.

I'm a writer and reader of historical horror - anything pre-1900 tends to be a lot of fun. I guess it was all those Hammer Horror Dracula films back when I was a kid. :)

message 122: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Rainey (jennifer_rainey) | 154 comments Hi, Erik, nice to meet you! :) I've always had fun with historical horror, too. What's your favorite work pre-1900?

Erik Tavares (estavares) | 9 comments Jennifer:

I naturally dig Dracula, but I'm more into the spirit of the history than it having been written then. I love Victorian-era horror and thrillers like The List of Seven, Barbara Hambly's vampire books, Saberhaben's Dracula / Sherlock Holmes series, that sort of thing.

I guess I was bottle-fed on Christopher Lee Dracula movies, so that helped. :)

Jennifer Oliver (jennifer_l_oliver) | 33 comments Hi, nice to meet you all!
I'm Jennifer L. Oliver and I'm writing my first dark fantasy novel. I'm about half way through the first draft and learning more and more about writing every day.
I read all types of fiction books but tend to lean heavily towards the paranormal genres. Right now, there are probably 30 plus books in my iPad waiting to be read. I just finished the Hunger Games series - had to see what the fuss was about. ;)
TV shows? Well, Supernatural tops my list of favorites, but I also like Once Upon a Time, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Charmed, Angel, Buffy, and Dollhouse. I'll watch and read pretty much anything that Joss Whedon has done.
I'm looking forward to the discussions. This group looks like it has some really good ones going on! :D

Hi Jennifer, best of luck with your writing! I've never been able to get into Grimm, but for my money, Once Upon a Time is the most original series on network TV...

message 137: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Oliver (jennifer_l_oliver) | 33 comments Hi Allan!
Thank you! Its a slow process but I'm enjoying it.

Grimm definitely isn't one that has a commercial appeal by any means. It took me several times to really get into it myself. I started watching it as a "writer" looking at the break down of the story line, plot, and character development. I'm still not a diehard fan but I do keep up with it.

I agree with your assessment of Once Upon a Time though. I love the twists and turns the story takes us on. And the characters always surprise me. I haven't yet been able to guess what is going to happen. Love shows that keep me challenged like that!

message 145: by Nicola (new)

Nicola Claire (nicolaclaire) Hi Everyone,

I'm Nicola Claire and have been in love with Paranormal Romance books for as long as I can remember. Twilight - loved it! The one that got me started.

Eventually, I progressed from YA to Adult (and beyond) and then one day I just started writing. It was as though an entire series appeared in my head and I couldn't wait to get it all out.

So, now I have three Adult PNR books published, with three more in the series currently being edited, ready for release, and two more in my head waiting for me to "get out".

Take a peek...

Kindred
Blood Life Seeker
Forbidden Drink

Coming soon! Giver of Light

Thanks Rebecca for a great opportunity to spread the word about new Paranormal books!

Jaye Frances | 32 comments Hi, everyone,

I'm Jaye Frances, a new member to the group and an indie author. I've been getting to know you by reading through the (very interesting) threads and expect to be joining in on the discussions. I'm the author of "The Kure", the first book in The Kure series. It's a paranormal-occult romance based on some pretty wicked and frightening historical practices (for more info, check out my blog posts of Feb. 6 and 9 titled Myths, Legends and Lies - http://blog.jayefrances.com). I currently live in Florida with my husband, who has been kind enough to give up his share of closet space for my shoe collection (all right, sometimes it does seem a bit obscene . . .)

Thanks for letting me join in!
