I had a very busy weekend and was MIA for a good part of it...and wow, when I come back there are all this new faces. Welcome everyone! I'm glad you found the group:)

Great to meet you all!

Wow and greetings to all these new people! It seems everytime I jump on there are more and more new, wonderful faces...I love it! I really hope you all find this group to your liking and enjoy visiting us :D

Have we already had a discussion group to decide what to call ourselves?
It's nice to join the group. I would talk more, but something has just tapped on my window. I know it's dark out there, and I live in a cabin in the middle of the woods, near where that poor family were murdered 200 years ago and their bodies were never found .... but don't worry about me, I'll just pop out to investigate.
I'll be right back....

Rebecca, it's such a good book! I hope you enjoy it when you get around to reading it. I will never look at a heart-shaped box the same again; it makes Valentine's Day a little unnerving, LOL!

Horror is sort of my guilty genre, in the sense that I love it, I read/watch it voraciously...and then I get freaked out about walking across dark rooms for a couple of days afterwards. It hurts so good :D
I'm joining up for the love of the genre, and because I'm hoping to snag some good recommendations. That's the thing about this genre that I don't like, though - you have to dig through quite a bit of quartz to find the real diamonds.
Glad to meet you all!
~ Candy

Yeah, I'm REALLY looking for some diamonds. I've read enough quartz.

Greetings, Candy! Nice to meet you. I totally know what you mean about trying to find the diamonds, though! There are some serious duds in this genre (though I wonder if that's the case in every genre), but there are some real diamonds out there, too. I'm very picky about what I read!
And hello, Erin! Nice to meet you, too, and thank you for the friend request. :)
Welcome everyone! It's so great that you found our group. As for finding the gem, I love when I pick up a book and it's so great I can't put it down. I haven't found a book like that for a while and my genre crosses over many times.

My name is Erik and it's great to find a group that includes writers too. Though I love to read, I look forward to hearing about others' experiences.
I'm a writer and reader of historical horror - anything pre-1900 tends to be a lot of fun. I guess it was all those Hammer Horror Dracula films back when I was a kid. :)

I'm Shannon and I'm a stay at home mother of two who is trying to go back to school. I love reading paranormal and horror books which helps me to escape my crazy day, but beacuse I read fast I go through books like crazy and I am always looking for new books or series to read.

I'm impressed you have time to read with school and little ones.

I give up my sleep time so I can read. Sleep is over rated. lol

Hello Tempest, David, Melissa, Erik, Shannon and Allan. It's great to meet everyone. If you have any question please don't hesitate to ask. We have a very friendly and supportive group:)

I naturally dig Dracula, but I'm more into the spirit of the history than it having been written then. I love Victorian-era horror and thrillers like The List of Seven, Barbara Hambly's vampire books, Saberhaben's Dracula / Sherlock Holmes series, that sort of thing.
I guess I was bottle-fed on Christopher Lee Dracula movies, so that helped. :)

Since I am Filipino, I will try to only suggest and talk about Filipino novels in the discussion. there is a whole bunch of really great writing here in our country. Too bad, only a select few ever gets to the Western market.
Hello to all you wonderful new members. I'm so excited to see you here! This group is all about having fun, sharing books and work. We have a teaser thread going atm which showcases teasers from an artist work (what a great way to see if you like a story). Also some fun games and polls are up for book of the month. I look forward to chatting with you all soon:-)

Very nice! I know it's sort of the easy answer, but I adore Frankenstein. Such a fantastic novel!

That's a great idea, Erin! The broader selection of books we have to discuss, the better. :)

I hope everyone likes weresnakes, because they are part of the package. :)Lash

I can even post links to some free speculative and horror Filipino stories... I just do not know where to do that...

Hi Erin,
Give me a few days and I will add a folder or a topic for you to share your links in! I know I am interested in reading more stories from different cultures.

Hi Erin,

I'm Jennifer L. Oliver and I'm writing my first dark fantasy novel. I'm about half way through the first draft and learning more and more about writing every day.
I read all types of fiction books but tend to lean heavily towards the paranormal genres. Right now, there are probably 30 plus books in my iPad waiting to be read. I just finished the Hunger Games series - had to see what the fuss was about. ;)
TV shows? Well, Supernatural tops my list of favorites, but I also like Once Upon a Time, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Charmed, Angel, Buffy, and Dollhouse. I'll watch and read pretty much anything that Joss Whedon has done.
I'm looking forward to the discussions. This group looks like it has some really good ones going on! :D

Hi Jennifer, best of luck with your writing! I've never been able to get into Grimm, but for my money, Once Upon a Time is the most original series on network TV...

Thank you! Its a slow process but I'm enjoying it.
Grimm definitely isn't one that has a commercial appeal by any means. It took me several times to really get into it myself. I started watching it as a "writer" looking at the break down of the story line, plot, and character development. I'm still not a diehard fan but I do keep up with it.
I agree with your assessment of Once Upon a Time though. I love the twists and turns the story takes us on. And the characters always surprise me. I haven't yet been able to guess what is going to happen. Love shows that keep me challenged like that!

Hello, Jennifer! Nice to meet you and nice name! ;) Always nice to meet fellow Supernatural and Ghost Hunters fans!

I'm Thomas, and my new werewolf novel "The Clearing" is coming out later this year. I'm also working on an anthology of three paranormal short stories. It's a pleasure to be here :)

There are so many great new followers. Welcome to the group. I'm so glad you found us and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We have lots going on.

Lol I second what L.M said! Hello to all you wonderful new people!
Lol I second what L.M said! Hello to all you wonderful new people!

I'm Nicola Claire and have been in love with Paranormal Romance books for as long as I can remember. Twilight - loved it! The one that got me started.
Eventually, I progressed from YA to Adult (and beyond) and then one day I just started writing. It was as though an entire series appeared in my head and I couldn't wait to get it all out.
So, now I have three Adult PNR books published, with three more in the series currently being edited, ready for release, and two more in my head waiting for me to "get out".
Take a peek...
Kindred
Blood Life Seeker
Forbidden Drink
Coming soon! Giver of Light
Thanks Rebecca for a great opportunity to spread the word about new Paranormal books!
You're welcome and thanks for joining Nicola. I think you will find this group wonderful and very supportive!

I'm Jaye Frances, a new member to the group and an indie author. I've been getting to know you by reading through the (very interesting) threads and expect to be joining in on the discussions. I'm the author of "The Kure", the first book in The Kure series. It's a paranormal-occult romance based on some pretty wicked and frightening historical practices (for more info, check out my blog posts of Feb. 6 and 9 titled Myths, Legends and Lies - http://blog.jayefrances.com). I currently live in Florida with my husband, who has been kind enough to give up his share of closet space for my shoe collection (all right, sometimes it does seem a bit obscene . . .)
Thanks for letting me join in!
