Karen Fowler | 10 comments Thanks for the invite. I'm a not-so-closeted fan of Fangs :-) In fact, my upcoming release has been teased as having "music, magic, fangs and freaks."

I've got a half-dozen shorts and story collections out now, but the above mentioned novel is getting released near the end of this month (Kill Me). I look forward to finding more paranormal and horror books to read here... and of course getting to know you all!

message 56: by Pixie (new)

Pixie (PixieLynnWhitfield) Hello. I'm Pixie and I'm not exactly new to the group, though this is my first post. I've been lurking a bit and meaning to post for a while now, so I'm sorry that I'm just now getting around here. I've been insanely busy the past couple of months getting things in order but things are winding down just enough for me to have some relaxing moments again finally. Lol.

Anyways, I'm an author. My novel (the first book to a trilogy) is releasing around the end of next month. I write a mixture of YA, Paranormal, Dystopian and Horror. I'm married with three step-kids (two of them are teenagers, eep) and live in Texas. You can learn more about me and/or my book at my profile. I'm not here to spam anyone, I promise. :)

I really like this group and look forward to participating when I can. Thanks for the invite. :)

Kirsty Bicknell (kirsty_vizard) | 38 comments Wow!!! Hi everyone :-) . . I am kinda new to Goodreads but find its my new favourite social networking site!! Have just joined your group but after reading all your bios I don't feel that I'm worthy to be here! . . .I'm Kirsty, I did an English degree over 10 years ago now and desperately wanted to be a writer etc . . unfortunately life got in the way . . but I now have 2 boys, one of whom has severe learning difficulties . . so for me reading books is my outlet I guess and since I discovered Paranormal fiction I haven't really read anything else. I have just finished 'The Sleepwalkers' and recently read 'The Hunger Games' but was really disappointed by 'Mockingjay' :-( . . . so have I talked too much already???!!!

TemperanceRiver Hello all! Lately I have been looking to find new horror books, this seems like a great place to help expand my library! I've been on GR for a while but haven't been active in any groups yet. This seems like a smaller community with friendly people, I'm excited to be a part of it!

message 62: by Anna (last edited May 03, 2012 06:26AM) (new)

Anna Hi not sure if this is the right group as I don't really like horror of the Stephen King variety but I do like Anita Blake and paranormal so i thought I'd try the group out!

I have two books out, These Hellish Happenings and Thoroughly Modern Monsters, both of which are quirky urban fantasies. I tend to fancy the quirky side of things. :P

I'm looking forward getting to know everyone! It's lovely to be here. :)

L.M. Smith (LadyMuse82) | 176 comments Hi everyone. I've been a member of the group for a few days but didn't notice this thread until today.

My name is Lynsee but I publish as L. M. Smith because most people pronounce my first name wrong (it's said just like Lindsay but for some reason everyone who reads it says Lineese) and it drives me nuts. lol

I indie-pubbed my first book in September, 2011 after a traditionally published author that I admire and respect told me that she wishes she'd indie-pubbed her books instead of choosing a big New York based publishing agency.

I've been an avid fan of reading for as long as I can remember and I started writing as early as first grade when I entered a self-illustrated children's book called "The Snake Who Had A Rash" in the state book fair and took first place in my age group. Of course, that book was never published but my teacher had the pages laminated nicely and seeing it at a book fair was an experience that inspired me with a bug to keep writing.

I am currently working on my first series called "Jazz Nemesis novels" and I'm realizing that it's starting to develop a life of it's own. The first book in the series, The Citizens, was published earlier this year and is already receiving some great feedback and international interest. I'm working on the second book, The Prototypes, and hope to publish it around the same time next year. I had originally planned for it to be a trilogy but as I continue working on the second book I am starting to realize that the story is much larger than I had originally realized and it's starting to look like it may end up as at least four or five books, possibly more.

I am excited to be a member of this group and I hope that you will check out my works if you like paranormal fiction. I do have to warn you, however, that both of my novels so far include strong language, and moderate violence. The Jazz Nemesis series also includes mild sexual content so far and that is likely to increase as the story progresses.

If you do decide to read them, please feel free to let me know what you thought. I love to hear feedback be it positive or constructive.

Edit: oops, forgot to include links etc.

Marik Berghs | 13 comments Hi everyone, just joined so not sure I'm up to speed. My daughter and I are both writers and started a little Indie Epub Company. I would love to contribute to some give-aways- for reviews. Do you do that? And how do I set that up and with whom. These would be Kindle versions, gift certs for the book. Or if you are interested the book currently looking for reviews is Stained, By Jessica M.

Hope this isn't considered spam.

No I don't think of it as spam at all Marik :)I love indie press and publishing companies and supporting Indie Writers is such an important thing to do. We have BOM nominations open so please we dont frown on people nominating their own books as long as you nominate only once :). Also I will have a talk to the other moderators and maybe we could look at setting up a read 2 review fold where poeple who are willing to read and reveiw can sign on for different books :)

Hi to both of you I am so happy you have joined our group I really hope we are doing something right :) As I said to Marik we are looking at trying to help indie authors and small press publishing in any way we can. You may also nominate you book for BOM but please only nominate once. I hope this group is what you are looking for and if you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to let us know.

R.G. Porter (rgporter) | 4 comments Hi everyone. I just found this group and decided to join. I've been pub'd by some small epubs in the past, but have decided to embark on the indie journey. As such, I took the plunge into the world of indie pubbing back in Oct 2011. I have to say, it has been a total blast (and a ton of hard work.)

I tend to write in a few genres. Fantasy (epic and dark) as well as paranormal and horror/thriller. All of my novels tend to have some form of supernatural events infused in their storylines. I actually tried once to write a straight contemporary novel, it didn't work. Demons managed to make their way into the plot. :)

I currently have 8 novels and 1 novella out. I'll list them below. :) I'm actually hoping to release the final installment of my Darkness Unleashed series in the coming month or two.

Darkness Unleashed series:
Shadow of the Wolf
Kiss of the Wolf
Cry of the Raven

Demon's Gate series:
Shades of Night

Dragon Legacy trilogy:
Innok's Curse

Guardians of Nature series:
Keepers of Water

Stand alones:
Destiny's Light
When Darkness Falls
Scottish Whispers

I'm beyond excited to be part of this group and look forward to connecting and getting to know everyone here. Also, I can always be found at the following places.

L.M. Smith (LadyMuse82) | 176 comments Rebecca,

I nominated my latest book for the BoM but had a question. When you say 'nominate only once' is that once per month or once ever? For example, if my book is not chosen for May can I nominate it again in June or do I have to nominate a different book? Thank you, in advance, for your response.

Marik Berghs | 13 comments My daughter's second paranormal (comedy more than horror) will be out soon I'll tell her about the group. We also have another book that is paranormal, mystery, etc. Love to give away epub copies for reviews. My first book will be ready soon but I'm not sure it isn't too early for read 2 review since I'm also submitting it to some reviewers who require a 3 month lead. We can commit to 10 or more e-reader give aways for any of our books.

Thanks for the welcome to the group

Carole Gill | 1 comments Hi all!
I am Carole Gill, the author of The House on Blackstone Moor. It's dark gothic romantic horror. I'm finishing up the sequel.

I find myself wondering about the definitions of gothic and paranormal romantic fiction, hence I wanted to join this group!

I suppose my all-time dream novel to read and write would be a combination of Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire and Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca! kind of wild, right?!
Anyway, glad I'm here!

I'd love to chat and get to know other memebers..and of course I'd REALLY appreciate any suggestions on horror/dark books to check out.

message 85: by L.M. (new)

L.M. Smith (LadyMuse82) | 176 comments Marcia,

There is no such thing as "just" a reader. Readers are exceptionally important people, after all! If we were ALL writers, who would read our books? I think most writers can agree that once we start writing we find very little time left to read the works of others anymore and so, for us writers, you readers are the most important people in the world. :)

I've joined a few groups since discovering GoodReads, but this one is really active, welcoming and just more fun.

Hello! Yes, I'm here... you can all settle down and stop worrying!! Oh wait... Sorry! - I channeled for a moment!

At any rate, here is some misc info, just for all of you:

NAME: Emily but most of the internet world knows me as Muse

AGE: 36

STATUS: Married and staying that way! 12 years in this day and age is unheard of! We're shooting for 50+.

LOCATION: Virginia (you ain't gettin' more than that!)

OCCUPATION: Network Engineer AKA Geekdom Alert!

INTERESTS: Reading, reading, reading!! I read it all... books, magazines, fanfiction (yes, what of it?!). I also write fanfiction! - wanna take it outside? I'm cool like that! I also dabble in graphic art and web design... I'm a long ways from being an expert at it, but I enjoy it and it's how I destress. I also love, love, love movies and my husband I bought a larger (AKA AWESOME!) TV just to feed my addiction. LOL

FAVORITE GENRES: Sci-Fi, some Fantasy/Paranormal, Romance (depends on the author) and some Horror/Thrillers

FAVORITE AUTHORS: Jim Butcher, David Eddings, Dean Koontz, Robert Doherty/Bob Mayer, Sherilyn Kenyon, Katie McAllister, Simon R. Green, Patricia Briggs, Suzanne Collins... Those are my main ones, I have many more!

CURRENTLY READING: Angelfall by by Susan Ee

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
+ I have four demon spawn kids that are 11, 10, 5 & 6 months. They make me nuts but I wouldn't trade them for anything! Although... lately, with my older two, I'm understanding why some species eat their young.
+ I have had several experiences in the past where my family and I have had to rely on the kindness and generosity of others and I feel that it is my duty to return the favor as much as possible. Therefore, I participate in and/or run several online fundraisers... one of which is my personal baby, as it directly affects us and I believe that the research needs to continue:

>> STOP_SIDS (we lost a child when she was 2 months old and therefore, I'm heavily vested in this)
>> FANDOM AID
>> HELP GIVE KIDS THE WORLD

I'm sarcastic but I have (what I think anyways) a good sense of humor. I look forward to 'meeting' people who have similar interests so that I can 'geek out' with them! It's nice to be able to sit there and say, "OMG! - and then when XXXX turned around and did XXXX!! Awesome!" LOL

Anyways, glad to be here and I'm excited to have found this group!

~Muse

Johnny, I would recommend Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill as something really gripping, creepy and page-turning if you haven't read it yet. That book will stick with you for weeks after finishing it!
