CJ (badgerlock) Years ago I read a novel that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. It was some sort of modern-day science-fiction, or something, told from maybe 2-4 points of view. At least two of the protagonists were vampires. The main 'monsters' of the story were something referred to as Whispers, and although I could be delusional the way they were described always reminded me of the Xenomorphs from Alien, or Zerg from Starcraft. The 'final boss' monster, so to speak, was some entity that took form with laundry, I think. The phrase 'whispers travel fast' was prominent a lot I believe as well.

It probably won't help much, but I remember quite clearly that sunsets, or just the skies in general, were often described to be like 'rotting pumpkins' whenever either something was going down, or whenever the Whispers were drawing close to that place. Any help would be hugely appreciated, it's been driving me nuts!

Miriam | 40 comments Google Books brings up The Gathering Dark (apparently a part of a series) as the first result. From what I've skimmed, the book does involve vampires of some sort.

Perhaps it's worth a look?

Miriam | 40 comments Oh and there is also a phrase in there that says "the rotten pumpkin orange sunlight"
