@Liezel - want a new number?
@Barbara - 405 - Read a novel where the Main character is a thief/robber/burglar
@Barbara - 405 - Read a novel where the Main character is a thief/robber/burglar
Does anyone have any suggestions for my thief main character book? Listopia wasn't much help and I can't think of something I might have. Since time is short I am looking for something I might have or is cheap to buy in a second hand bookstore.
Have you read The Book Thief? It's such a popular book you might get lucky at a second hand store.*edit, sorry I see you've read it
Thanks for the suggestion. I did read it, but don't feel bad. My mum suggested Oliver Twist and I read that only a couple of weeks ago.
I'll try to find something tomorrow at the bookstore maybe something about Robin Hood and if I can't find something I still have my opt-out.

Yes you load them onto a site like photobucket and then use the link they give you (for this site use the html one) and post that link here :)
I usually post it on photobucket and then use the code to they give me to post it here.
But why not use pinterest in the same way we use it in the photography challenge? I am sure Lu won't mind.

I guess I could do that. This task inspired the Photography challenge after all :) And I could always delete it later.
OK, I read Expecting Someone Taller by Tom Holt. I have a pair of boots similar to the ones the woman is wearing on this cover:
They are also brown leather, the same length, with straps around them (at least that what I think the boots on the cover look like; I know it's a bit indistinct). You can see the picture of my boots here: http://pinterest.com/pin/141441244518...
I'd been walking around in the rain all day, so unfortunately my boots are a bit scuffed!
Ok I have been looking for a book for task 405 - Read a novel where the Main character is a thief/robber/burglar and I haven't been able to find anything.
So I have a question: Does it have to be the main character? I mean Last night I read a children's book called Pandora the Curious. This is an adaptation of the myth of Pandora's box. Obviously Pandora is the main charachter but she is working with Prometheus and Epimetheus who are in possesion of the box. Next to Pandora they are the most prominent characters in the book. Prometheus is turned into a thief because of the "evils" that are set free because Pandora opens the book.
I was wondering if this counts.
If it does: yeah! I finished my task and can I have task 137 please?
If it doesn't: bugger! I want to use my opt-out and can I have task 137 please?

The last time I asked Lu if I could use a major character rather than the main one, she said now. I think she's getting wise to the loophole seekers...

It is sort of how you define main charachter. Pandora has the title role. The other two characters are major players though. If they made a movie out of this they would be considered the male leads.
I just thought I should check to see if it might be accepted and if it isn't I still have my opt-out. No worries.

I get the sense that main character means "There can be only one". Not sure how it would work in books written from the perspectives of multiple characters who have equally important parts though.
138 - Read a book that has a Canoe/Boat/Ship etc. on the cover
@Barbara - Sorry the main character :(
@Barbara - Sorry the main character :(
I might be too honest for my own good, but Pandora plays a bigger part than Prometheus but he and Epimetheus are the next biggest part and help her solve the problem.
But that is ok. It was more a question of nothing ventured nothing gained. :) I will just use my opt-out like I said in message 1313 and ask again for task 137 please?

Crap, Pandora the Curious is set in a school. I will find another. This should be easier than the thief/robber/burglar thing. :)
Ok, because it didn't say that on the scoreboard.
BTW: I found a book set on Star Trek's Starfleet Academy so I am very happy!

144 - Read a book that has puzzle piece(s) on the cover - a puzzle you build, with like 1000 parts etc.
Sorry Barbara this is a hard one :(

Don't be sorry, I choose it.
Funny thing is I know we had a similar task before and I know I have a book with a puzzle piece on it, however I just can't seem to find it.
Worst case is that I check my second hand bookstore tomorrow and I can't find anything and the challenge is over for me. I have read over 50 books so that isn't bad.
Having said that I am open to suggestions! :D

That is some of what I just said in the attic while I was searching for my book with a puzzle piece on the cover. The thing is I never thought to check my mum's books because she doesn't have that many. Now I casually glanced at her books and I saw she has a Dutch translation of Alexandre Dumas' Robin Hood. Which I could have used for my thief task but I didn't know she had it and so I used my opt-out. Which I would have liked to use now but I can't so....

Great! Just want Barbara to have a look as well, she has been on the ball with keeping my updating correct :)
Barbara where are you? Haven't seen you all day :(

Sorry Lu, I have been very busy the last couple of days and haven't had a time to look at goodreads or even read. I am taking a look now and I will let you know in the next couple of minutes!
Ok, I went over the numbers and I have a few comments.
First: you never finished task 181, Lu, and I never finished task 144 so they shouldn't be included in the randomising.
Second: I did however finished task 450 so that number should be included.
Third: who finished tasks 58 and 184? Because you have included these numbers but I can't seem to find who read them.
That's all I got.
