SOLVED. Book written as modern version of "The Black Cat" [s]

There is a book I read when I was in junior or senior high (late nineties early 2000's) that I cannot remember the title or author. The author was a descendent of Edgar Allan Poe. He wrote a modern day version of "The Black Cat." There was a Wiccan woman that moved to a small town and the (sheriff's?) wife went missing. A man who may have been a journalist or detective began researching the disappearance. If this sounds familiar to anyone I would appreciate the book title or author so I can add it to my read list. Thanks! I think that is it. I didn't remember it having the same title though! I must have been over looking it every time I've tried searching online.
