Take care, Karin
Hi, I'd like to suggest "Snow Country" by Yasunari Kawabata. Its about a wasted love between a wealthy man and an onsen geisha, gives an insight into japanese attitudes to permanence. See you soon, Becca

I thought the meeting was tomorrow night so I missed the discussion yesterday...I hope that everyone liked the book as much as I did (thanks Alan!).
I'm not sure I've totally understood the theme for this month's book, but if travel writing is included I'd suggest:
Peter Hessler's "River Town: Two Years on the Yangtze"

More from the 'difference of cultures' than from the travelling angle, I'd like to suggest "Brick lane" by Monica Ali : the story of a girl from Bangladesh sent to London for an arranged marriage. I haven't read it nor seen the film but both were recommended to me.
See you soon,
Viviane

Little change of plans: Would April 12th also work for you? This would mean a little more time to read and a little less stressy return from the Easter weekend.
Bye and have fun with Brick Lane

Great! ...
Well, not so great for Viviane. I hope you can make it! Especially since the book is your suggestion and a good one, too :)

Hey all, will be there tomorrow but possibly late so I an catch up with you all when I get there! Not definitely late but definitely possibly late :-)
I'm going to Marrakech tomorrow and no where near ready yet so I won't be able to make it. Sorry.
The doodle will be put up on Saturday. It would be great to have at least 4 or 5 suggestions altogether.
Bonne nuit! :)
