Of course it would be, the Kara Gillian series is awesomeness personified!!

Hey. Just quickly wanted to post that Ann said to me recently that apparently in an interview or something, it was said that the 5th book will not end in a cliffhanger. So, yay!

I think Ryan was the demon lord that the group who accidently summoned Rhyzkahl were trying to summon...The group that Kara's aunt was a part of. And, I wonder too what he did that made them call him Oath Breaker. And who knows? I think we can all actually safely assume that he totally will.

Ryan only met Rhyskahl briefly in book 2 Blood of the Demon
As for more concrete evidence of Ryan being an exiled Demon Lord read towards the end of book 3 Secrets of the Demon, when he tries to save Kara he uses his Demon Lord powers and Eilahn screams his Demon Lord name, also Kara figures it out and asks Zach who just doesn’t respond and walks away.

I think that in this upcoming book where are going to find out who Ryan is and what did he do to be thrown into exile, especially what did he do to Rhyzkahl. Also I think we will learn what role Kara plays in all of this.
I wonder how Kara plans to escape demonic Lord Mzatal?
Yeah, that was my reaction, haha. Yeah, I'm hoping for that too, but you know how in the blurb it says more questions than answers? I'm just wondering what else she is gonna make us worry about. Me too. But, obviously, it's going to be entertaining and mysterious, eh?

What I am hoping for is that the blurb is implying that there WILL be answers for questions that have been around for a long time, but that there will be more/new questions raised. I don't mind new questions at all (they keep the series interesting and going!) but I'm ready for some of the 'old' questions to get answered!

Yeah, I suppose, it's been like 3-4 books since some of those questions were raised and I guess it's time to say goodbye to them. It just feels weird not to just randomly remember at school, or in the middle of my day, 'Huh. I really wonder what Ryan did, and who Kara is in the Demonic Realm. I can't wait till the next book to find out!' You know? Probably not, I'm most likely coming off as a wierdo here, but yeah!

I do know what you mean, but I have not given up hope for answers! Yet. :) The blurb implies she's in the demon realm, so I am really hoping that is a 'logical' place for some of those answers to come out. Surely for the questions like about Ryan, since he's a demon lord, and Kara with the dream stuff. More on Rhyzkahl too I bet. But Ryan is the one I want to know more about right now!

Yeah, I totally feel like that too. What role do you think Zack will place here? Like, serious and stuff, or funny in the midst of disaster?

Hmmmm. I have no idea! He's an interesting character for sure, but with Zack on Earth and Kara in the demon realm with that new Lord whatever his name is, I don't know what will happen with him. Can Zack get back to the demon realm, or is he exiled too?

That's a good question. It would be tough even if she was on Earth, but she'd at least have the 'home field' advantage. The cover says "waiting for rescue is not her style" but I bet Rhyzkahl plays a part in it somehow. He can't be too happy that this other Lord has his summoner.

Wow. Where is it that Ryan stabbed Kara?? I don't remember that. I remember there was something about dying in a dream, but don't remember the stabbing part. I'm getting ready to start a reread, so I'll keep an eye out.
He probably could have altered his own memories, but why? Punishing himself/feeling guilty for whatever he did to be an oathbreaker and get himself exiled?

"
Goooooood question! Sure Zack is in human form, but what about a half-demon newborn?? Poor Jill! LOL And poor doc!

Not until DECEMBER 31st! How can that beeeeee?!? But... I saw she is going to put Chapter 2 out next month, so that's SOMETHING at least. Wahhhhh and yay! all at the same time. This is torture!!!!!!
O M G YES! I LOVED it..... must must must know what is next! And that lord guy is scary. What the hell is a purification?? I wonder if Rhyzkahl knows she's there and can get her out?? GAH!

Thank God that she is releasing CH. 2 next month.
Go Kara! She didn't fall a part and kept a strong front.
Now we know that somehow Kara is tied to this Elinor character and that Lord Rhyzkahl has been hiding some very valuable information from her, it doesn't bode well for the demon lord.
I think in the whole purification thing is about bring those memories that are hidden in Kara out.
Can't wait for Dec. 31.

Lord Rhyzkahl has been hiding some very valuable information from her, it doesn't bode well for demon lord."
Yes. Short chapter. But short is better than nothing :) Tweet reported this book is 163,000 and the others have been half to a little over half that! Two books in one. I'm not complaining!
Rhyzkahl is hiding it or this new lord is lying. Need more info!

For a long time now Rhyzkahl has been hiding things from Kara, maybe to protect her. Hopefully we get more clues in CH.2

Right. Sometimes having knowledge can be a dangerous thing, and with the intro of this hostile lord, we know there are big dynamics that weren't in Kara's realm of knowledge. So Rhyzkahl could well have kept her in the dark on some things for her own good.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Ryan had something to do with that dream. When she woke up she felt as though an arrow bolt of something should be sticking out of her chest. And then, in this new chapter *SPOILERS* (Should we make a new thread for the new chapters?)
When the lord said Elinor's name and Kara felt as though a spear had gone through her essence...I'm thinking Elinor died a violent death. And I think it's too big of a coincidence for Ryan to be exiled, for Rhyzkahl to be uber angry with Ryan, and Rhyzkahl's increasingly affectionate behavior toward Kara to happen so close together. I'm betting Elinor was the precious item stolen/destroyed by Ryan. Maybe in this book the murder Kara will be solving will be hers.

Please tell me she is going to post CH.3.
Am I the only one that is left more confused than last time and with more questions.
At least know we partially what Ryan did to get exiled. We found out what the whole purification thing was about, and we know that now Rhyszkahl is not going be able to find Kara now, and that Kara (for now, cant escape).
Now for the questions:
*How is Kara connected with Elinor?
*Why does she have her memories?
*Why does Lord Mztal want her?
*Why are they at Ryan's palace?

Please tell me she is going to post CH.3.
I have heard that 3 will be posted, but I think that may be it. :( Hopefully sooner rather than later... but then it is a long wait for December!!

Thanks for a great review!!! As much as I love speculating about what's coming, and reading the sneak-peek chapters (first 2 so far!), I guess I don't really want to KNOW anything until I actually read the book. LOL Well.. I want to know everything nownownow, but get that I need to wait for the book to have the full impact of what's coming down and that you have implied in your review. (wooooo!!!). Sounds like early hints could really be spoilers.
So, for my part, thank you for saying there's lots you won't or can't answer! If you even think an answer would give something away, could you please clearly label it as a spoiler? Other people may well want whatever they can get :) but, like I said... I love the speculation, but want my first read to be 'clean' and the spoiler label will keep it that way. Thank you soooooo much! You rock.

As hot and badboy as Rhyzkahl is, I can't shake the sense that there's something going on with him that is more than just using Kara to summon him. One of these days, I'll go through all the books and find the examples of him being enigmatic, secretive, and evading, and in one case, downright scary/threatening. I really noticed when listening to the audiobooks. Kara says repeatedly that she knows there's more and doesn't trust him, and there were several incidents that left me wondering at his motivations both from what he said to Kara and his actions. There is the mix in there that seems to indicate some actual affection, but there's also a lot that has me wondering what his plans are! GAH! I'm waiting to see what motivations unfold for his behavior. Is it protection of Kara, or is it a greater plan, or something else entirely? Hoping more will come to light in Touch. :)
As for Ryan, we had the revelation that he's a demonic lord who doesn't know himself. Well.. that's a big thing right there. I don't have enough information yet to know how close Ryan's personality and character is to that of the demonic lord, so it feels really up in the air to me until more of that is revealed. I'm fascinated by the concept and want to know more of his story. Since he's really a demonic lord, maybe Kara will find out more about him too in the demon realm (makes sense to me!). She doesn't have a lot on that yet.
As for Kara's attraction to him vs Rhyzkahl, I see Ryan as someone she actually spends time with on a day to day basis and has had an opportunity to grow to like/not like on a 'real' basis. Rhyzkahl she knows from a relatively few short visits, either real or in dreams, and often dominated by sexytime. As much as I'd like to overlook them, he's said and done some things that don't leave me comfortable with him! But... he's not done anything so far that seems detrimental to Kara, even though it's pretty obvious he has his own agenda, so that's a mark in his favor. So basically.. at this point, I just don't know! I think I'm with Kara... I don't completely trust him, but am going with the flow of him being a very powerful ally and awesome lover.
Hmmm... even as I wrote that, it brought up the thought that Kara has not really distanced herself to the point of 'using' Rhyzkahl for some great sex (like Jill encouraged her to do). She keeps having thoughts about whether or not he really cares for her or loves her, which feels like it comes from her insecurity rather than confidence and surety. So that worries me a bit for her sake.
And then there is the new nemesis of Mzatal. Wow. Can't WAIT to read the book.

"I mean...talk about a left turn at Albuquerque. This is an amaze-balls followup to the last 4 books. The last 4 were really good urban fantasy with procedural stuff, but this book throws that formula into demon-town and is even more interesting for it. I was awestruck at the twists and turns and the, "Oh MAN why didn't I see that before!" So...yeah. If you like the series you gotta read this, and if you haven't read the series start in, because this series is top-notch in the genre. Gritty and dark, this is really good reading!"

"Rowland completely upends the Kara Gillian series in this installment. Everything we thought we knew about the inhabitants of Rowland's universe is called into question, with devastating results. Rising star Rowland kicks it into a whole new gear with this outstanding story that is heartbreaking, terrifying, and utterly thrilling!"

Told ya so LOL
Trust me,. you will love it although you will have a few WTF moments before things get a bit clearer.
