Mine! The movie is actually in my head months before I begin to write.But, in the spirit of your question, I'd love to see any of David Liss's Benjamin Weaver stories made into a movie or a BBC series. The foodie in me would love to see Kathryn Johnson's The Gentleman Poet as a film. For YA I think Icefall by Matthew Kirby would make a great film as well as The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez, The Rock and the River by Kekla Magoon, or Flygirl by Sherri Smith.
Looks like my fave book 'Malice in Blunderland' is about to become a movie. The Author has mentioned it is some places like twitter and LIT but not on his blog. Just goes to show that good work gets noticed. The book has been out a month and film companies are knocking his door. How the hell they could make it a film is beyond me!
Has anyone read Michelle Paver's books? They are set during the stone age and are fantastic. They would make great movies that would appeal to all age groups, a bit like Harry Potter did.

I always enjoyed Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody stories and thought they would be a ton of fun as a film-- archaeology, swashbuckling, mystery, a fiesty heroine...I think something nice could be done with Martha Grimes' Paradise Hotel series of books, too. They have a lot of atmosphere and charm.
Oooh! I second the Amelia Peabody stories! LOVE them! Had the opportunity to meet Elizabeth Peters at a convention one time. She struck me as very like Amelia!And then, of course MINE! lol! What author doesn't dream of that?

Oh, I'm happy someone else here knows and likes the books! It just seems it could be a hit in the Indiana Jones/The Mummy genre. And yes, I always thought the author was channeling an inner-Amelia. :)
(PS- It's true, it would be fun to see one's own book as a movie. When I studied writing back in college, I had a number of screenwriting classes, so I tend to write things in more of a movie style... Seeing my own characters in three dimensions would be a delight... and very surreal.)

Yeah, that's super cool! I always thought Carole Nelson Douglas' Irene Adler series would make great movies also. She is one of my favorite women of mystery. I didn't quite buy Rachel McAdams' portrayal of her in the last two Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies, but I was nevertheless super happy to at least see the character on film!

I want to see A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harness made into a movie.
Anything by Steven James - love Patrick Bower's character.
Evil Without A Face by Jordan Dane - that book played out like a movie when I read it - it would be a natural.
I'm gonna be biased and say my sister's book "Hope of Israel." Other than my sister's book "The Witch's Daughter. I love that time period of the Salem Witch Trials. It would be cool to see the flashbacks of Elizabeths life in the 1600's, to what it is now as an immortal living in the 20th century.
I'd love to see RASCISS and BLOOD of the MOON made into movies. On a more personal note, since my novel OF GOOD AND EVIL is presently being explored for the screen, I'd certainly like to see it made into a movie.

I have a question for the Author's. When your book is actually being explored for a movie or when it does get made into a movie are you brought on as a consultant?

Yes, most cases you do. In my case, there are two companies wanting to make 'Malice in Blunderland' into a film. Even now I am in discussion with script writers and screen writers to get them to have my vision. Difficulty in my case is the narrative and content, it is very confrontational, disturbing and rude. As a funny book you can make it easy to digest - but visually, it is a different story. Also there are hard and fast rules to films; you can show violent, explicit sex. Yet you cannot show someone watching violent, explicit sex?

I think any of Lynn Kurland's books would make awesome movies! I'd also like to see Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's "Peter and the Starcatchers" series on film (as long as the people writing the script actually read the books first, LOL).

when asked to sell your book to the production company, you have the ability to say that you want to be a consultant and have input on a, b, c, etc. they would probably say, sure, we will consult with you, and then they would likely do whatever they want.

I personally think they are better reads because of that issue as well.
Knight's Castle, by Edward Eager! With all the movies based on children's books, I've always wondered how they missed this one, or all the Eager books.I think Knight's Castle would make a good musical - I can almost see the big "Lead Soldiers" production number...

A book I just recently read (and loved) that I think would be a great film is Soul Identity by Dennis Batchelder. It's got an original plot, great characters, twists, and action. What else could you ask for?
