Oh it's not a stupid question. Roleplay is basically a play. You say one part and the other person says another part. Like plays tht u do at school. Or acting of a role. Right now, I am roleplaying the part of a person who is helping u defining a word. ^.^
Ex:
Person 1: hey! What's up?
Person2: the sky
Person3: oh haha I get tht
Person2: Thought u might
Person1: …

What roleplay did u get invited too? Different roleplays hav different rules. I recently got told at to not to roleplay a character in the made up story because I didn't make it. +.+
U just basically act out tht person like u do as writing a story in tht person'a pov. Post what she/he would say, do, etc.

But make sure tht u don't write a whole page worth of story because the other person also might like a turn at roleplaying ur character or theirs. Depends on the rules.

*smiles and waves, walks toward Keegan* Hey Keegan! I feel like it's been forever since I've seen you!

(other person)

Keegan:
I know, right? I've just been really busy. *smiles and sits down on a bench, gesturing for her to join*
