Same here.
The problem is: There are not many famous german authors. Could be because America is waaaaay bigger and the hell of a lot of people speak and therefore read English.
So I'd be pretty famous in Germany, whatever "fame-level" I'd get to. xD

Today I realized exactly who I want to be.
And that person is myself.

Because if I'm perfectly honest, I spent the last year looking at myself through a mirror and trying to draw on a different face, if you know what I mean.
I wanted to be a different person for different people, and now I'm finally, finally done. I don't want to lie to myself, or anyone else.

I am Cheyla. And I like carbs and My Chemical Romance and cheesy books on occasion. I read cosmo like other girls and I like to sing really loud in the car.

IF SOMEONE DOESN'T LIKE THAT, LET THEM SPEND THEIR EFFORT GIVING A DAMN.

▕ ▋ ♛ ▍Marisa (vergeofinsanity) | 712 comments Today I realized that, practically, I will never amount to anything. What do I have? Terrible drawing skills, writing that only sounds good once every two months, terrible procrastination, a lack of creativity, naïvety so great I may never fully comprehend the world around me, decent math skills, and an interest in science. Throw it all together and what do you get? A failure. A deformity. A freak of nature that doesn't deserve to live. Me.

Marisa.

Look, I know we only know each other on GR :)
But you're this like, fiery-spirited individual. You have so much passion. To give up is to not give yourself enough credit.
So maybe you have 'mediocre' art skills? Practice.
Practice writing.
Find inspiration when it comes, and don't expect yourself to be creative all the damn time. Nobody is.

As for naivety.. stay that way. There is a significant lack of innocence in this world, so having someone who hasn't ruined theirs yet is a breath of fresh air. And anyone will attest to that.

That GIF almost made me laugh... which is a bad thing, since I'm supposed to be doing a lab writeup.

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments Shut up.

*pause*

It doesn't matter if you are the most talented person ever, or have no talents at all.

You were born into this world with a purpose, and let me tell you, it wasn't to fill up space.

You know what I see when you throw those things together?

Someone who has not quite figured out where there path where lead, but has the potiental to achieve anything. All you have to do is trust in yourself, and when you don't, well, that's what we are for. To pick you back up, pat you on the shoulder, and encourage you to continue.

I see a wpnderful person handcrafted by God himself, with a purpose that only he knows.

Nope nope nope, don't get into that negative thinking again Marisa. We're not trying to bag on you, we're trying to help you. Don't collapse under the pressure of our encouragements, let it strengthen you dear! What Chey Chey and Matt are trying to say is to cheer up! You've got a wonderful life ahead of you full of awesome and terrible moments that you can't even imagine yet.

Sure, life sucks sometimes. It makes us feel as though we suck sometimes. But does that mean we have to look at everything as one big suck-fest? Absolutely not. Keep your chin up, and realize that you have worth, and your worth, and values, and personality will get you so far in life! You just have to not let yourself be defeated by those moments of self-doubt.

E.J. (ejschoenborn) | 379 comments "Terrible" Drawing Skills = The ability to make another person laugh if they are down. Plus, with practice, you can be as good as Matt. (YOU SAW HIS PICS!)

Writing that "only sounds good" once every two months = Um, LIES! If anything, it's once every two days... hours... minutes... etc.

Terrible Procrastination = I can tell you, this is awesome sauce right here. I went to Nationals my Freshman year of highschool through that. We wrote our speech on the bus ride TO the event from a hotel. The first time going to state, we were still writing on our board when we sat at the table.

Lack of Creativity = LIES! You love to draw and write! THAT IS CREATIVE! I don't care if it's a copy; you are using your imagination to copy it down!

Naivety = Innocence. So little of that nowadays... keep it safe.

And math skills and science love is combined together to create... COMPUTER TECHNICIAN! AND LIKE A GAZILLION OTHER JOBS!

So what I'm trying to say = YOU ARE F***ING AWESOME!
And...
don't let me corrupt you.

▕ ▋ ♛ ▍Marisa (vergeofinsanity) | 712 comments "corrupt" is hardly the right word.

▕ ▋ ♛ ▍Marisa (vergeofinsanity) | 712 comments And about the "good as Matt" comment. I can do better than him! I use basic ref. Analyze for a few minutes, then draw my own characters!!

message 264: by E.J. (new)

E.J. (ejschoenborn) | 379 comments You can do better than him?
THEN WHAT IS THIS I HEAR ABOUT TERRIBLE DRAWING SKILLS AND LACK OF CREATIVITY!?!?!?!

I HAVE BEEN LIED TO!

▕ ▋ ♛ ▍Marisa (vergeofinsanity) | 712 comments ... Correction, I used to be able to do better than him! (Besides, his lines are shaky and the shading leaves quite a bit to be desired.)

message 266: by [deleted user] (new)

Now, let's not compare ourselves to others.

It means nothing if someone can be as 'good as Matt'. How 'good' Mat has nothing to do with this. Yes, I think that Mat is a good artist. But if you keep comparing yourself to people, you will get nowhere in your art (including writing. Writing is an art). You won't be able to discover your own style. Your art should reflect you, not other people.

message 267: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments Yay, be better at art then me! :D
I only draw once in a blue moon... >.>
