IDK if that cliche, generic phrase helped at all. :P

jueun (jueunkang) | 176 comments What. I don't get it. Actually I understand it but I don't get why that's a quote I would use for this. O.O

▕ ▋ ♛ ▍Marisa (vergeofinsanity) | 712 comments Basically go for it. Even if you fail, you'll still be an amazing person for making it far enough to try. If you don't get to do all those things, you will probably achieve some.

E.J. (ejschoenborn) | 379 comments You have high dreams...
even if you don't get ALL that you want, you will still get some pretty amazing things! :D

message 209: by Matthew (last edited Aug 31, 2012 05:57AM) (new)

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments That job is going to be much more difficult, now that NASA has been removed.

The only space exploration teams are private companies.

So, I wish you good luck. :)

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) I thought NASA was still there... o.o
Goes to show how far my knowledge stretches.

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments I'll become a Quantum Physicist.

Then create a machine the travels through time, or into another dimension.

Then I will turn mad and evil and go through space and time and ruin the strands of history and reality.

~*ЇÐℰℱẎṧℴ¢ḯεтƴ *~ huh, and your telling me MY job will be hard?!?! pshhht

message 213: by ~*ЇÐℰℱẎṧℴ¢ḯεтƴ *~ (last edited Aug 31, 2012 06:09AM) (new)

~*ЇÐℰℱẎṧℴ¢ḯεтƴ *~ I believe time traveling will be much more harder than landing on Mars.

message 215: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments *rolls eyes*

That'll only be one of the side jobs.

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments Landing on Mars wouldn't be that diffiult. Didn't you hear it? They want to send people up there soon.
The problem is getting back, because it's a one-way ticket. They'll stay there forever! *horrified*

You serious!? Mars would be an awesome place to live. I mean, decidedly different atmosphere, but at least it would be nice and quiet. If they put a Barnes & Nobles up there, count me in!

message 219: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments But you wouldn't ever get back. I mean, NOT EVER! And you'd have a bunch of men all around you, because there are very few female astronauts (a thing that need changing, if you ask me).

There are some things about my own home that I like. The days of absolutely perfect weather, the mountains that surround me, the beach just a short drive away, all these cool places to visit. I just wish it would rain more, much more, that's all.

Beck (formerly Boo) (boooty) | 327 comments I sorta want to be an author, but I doubt that'll happen because there about a shabillion books out there and why choose mine? And I HAVE to speak at least three languages and have a pilots liscense. I want to survive the Air Force too. I want to go to the University of Tennessee. I want to have a ferret legally. And an ATV and a passport. Yep. Oh, and be a really good judo master. And an actress. And meet Tom Hiddleston. And become the best baritone player in the world. EHEHHEHEHE MY DREAMS!

Ohhh, those are nice goals Boo! It's always a good thing to keep your options open, and it's never too late to decide exactly what you want to do!

Oh, and I AM the best baritone player in the world. Nice to meet ya. BD

Beck (formerly Boo) (boooty) | 327 comments >:O ima challenge you to a baritone war!!!

message 231: by Cheyenne, Impressive, Star Fox (new)

Cheyenne (cheylaraine) | 1882 comments Mod
No, I didn't just google baritone. Why would you guys even accuse me of that?!

I like your goals, Boo! Ha. I like the name. But you shouldn't doubt yourself on the ability to publish books. Remember, there might be a shabillion books out there, but everyone's writing for a different demographic. There are also tons of ways to establish a fan base, such as posting writing online, self publishing, or trying to win yourself some contests on sites like figment.com

(I'd just hate to see you skip that part of your dream out of fear of failure. Because truthfully, if you fail at first, its not a huge deal. Embracing failure is the first climb towards success.)

Beck (formerly Boo) (boooty) | 327 comments cool quote!

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments In every generation of books, there is that one book, or possibly even a few. A book that when it came out, was unique, new, and original. It gave readers a new perspective, opened a gateway to another realm of imagination, and showed them something they've never seen before. It inspired countless other books, creating a new generation of books. That's what I want to write. A book that inspires a whole generation of books to come. A book with something different, just something, that makes it stand out from all the rest. Reveals new ideas, stuff that the reader has never thought about before, or if they had, never dared to show the world. I want to be that other that inspires others to become authors, and in turn, inspire that one person, the one who will make that book that will inspire more.

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments I want to effect the world in some way.
Or in the very least, my children will...
I want my children to be better then me.
In one way or another, I want them to be better.
Not the same as me.
I don't want them to follow in my one footsteps.
Or to make the same mistakes.
No, they will create there own path, and make their own mistakes.
All I can hope for is that I'll be able to help them along the way.

That's really admirable, Matty. To start an influence, a new literary era as you say... I have no doubts as to your ability. You inspire me on here. I think it's your conviction of character.

message 242: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments Very ambitious. I hope I will get to read your book when you write it. :)
I think the problem is just finding that new perspective.

message 243: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments I am planning a book right now... probably won't be much of anything though. ;P

message 244: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments With the way you write, I doubt it. I think it will be great. And I'd like to read it. Whatever it is. If I'm allowed.
Would that be your NaNo novel then?

message 245: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments Well... I think it's might end up as a series... >.>

message 246: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments When we're at it, I want to be an author too. I set my standarts not as high as Matt, but I definitely want to publish a book and hope some people like it. But I don't havt to be as famous as J.K. Rowling etc. Just so that I know people like what I write.

Just take care that it doesn't get that long. Believe me.

Matthew (phoebus) | 679 comments My standard go a bit like this:
* Become Divine Ruler of Reality or you aren't good enough to live.

message 249: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 490 comments The good thing about writing is that you can live in many worlds at once. And only one of them is the reality. And even that you can transform into something else in your books and make it bearable.
That's how I coped. And somehow, reality turned into something else in the end.
Of course I still live in multiple worlds at once. When I'm not talking to anyone or doing something, I daydream. That's what I do most of the time, to be honest, and that's where my best stories come from. :)

E.J. (ejschoenborn) | 379 comments Famous level:
I would like to be Kristin Cashore famous but not Suzanne Collins famous. Like I want to have a "well-known" book, but I don't want paparazzi or anything.
