D.C. Blackbird (kittyland) | 11 comments I would not mind checking out some of the books written about cats or with cats as main characters by authors who spend time on goodreads. If you are one, or you know of one or more, please let me know here or via Private Message. I like to encourage people who care enough about cats to spend the time and energy to do anything that promotes how wonderful they are.

Also, I wonder how many authors of "cat books" stay focused on cats, or do they they write similar books for dog lovers and bird lovers, etc?

Terri Cabral | 22 comments Terri Cabral - "The Tale Of Thisbe - An Extraordinary Cat" available on Smashwords.com or Amazon.com for Kindle - it's an eBook that has received an Honorable Mention in the London Book Festival and the New England Book Festival. I am editing Thisbe's next years "The Further Adventure's of Thisbe the Cat" - a sequel to the first book, I am also working on two other stories - writing one and editing the other - involving cats. LOVE cats - big and little. Have no interest in writing about dogs, birds or any other animal unless it is involved with a cat. :-)

Rahma Krambo (rahmakrambo) | 15 comments Greetings fellow cat authors.
Guardian Cats and the Lost Books of Alexandria is seen through the eyes of several members of a noble brotherhood of cats who guard ancient books of power rescued from the burning of the Library of Alexandria.

I'm happy to report that it has been on the Kindle bestseller list for several months. A sequel is in the works. It will include several cat members of the previous cast, plus some exciting new ones.

Thanks for starting this thread. It will be fun meeting other cat authors. Maybe we can help each other promote our books. Or at least discuss what it's like writing through a cat's eyes. I spent 4 years writing Guardian Cats and had some interesting experiences with stray cats showing up on our property who resembled my characters.

I probably wouldn't write a book for dog lovers, although I might have a dog character in one of my books. There is a ferret and several raccoons in Guardian Cats for comic relief.

Frederick Fuller is another author on here with his book, The Children of Bast.

Martha Steward (marthsteward64) | 6 comments Currently reading for a book review about dogs, a super gift book for friends and family. So far the book is a laugh out loud, each segment in the book reveals a dog perspective about a particular topic dogs' don't want human to know about : D

D.C. Blackbird (kittyland) | 11 comments Hi, friends.

As many of you know, we lost our wonderful feline friend Jekyll on June 9, 2011. It has been 1 year and we have not forgotten him. We never will.

Have you ever experienced the loss of a feline friend? If so, then I know just how you feel.

In honor of Jekyll, we are giving away thousands of eBook copies of CAT HEAVEN IS REAL throughout June, 2012.

We hope that you enjoy the book and that it gives you some comfort. You deserve it for the kindness and love you shared with kitties.

Here is a direct link to get the book. It is good until July 1st. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8kc...

Please feel free to share the above link with anyone you know who loved and lost a cat.

I am sure you can imagine how much I would appreciate a kind review. :)

Blue skies!

Terri Cabral | 22 comments I just released The Tale of Thisbe - An Extraordinary Cat on Amazon.com in paperback. It's on there for $12.50. Working on uploading the Kindle version updated. I'm going to release the updated Kindle version soon.

message 19: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 1 comments "Taming Me: Memoir of a Clever Island Cat" by Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and first-time author Cathy Unruh was released on National Feral Cat Day (Oct. 16). It's the rags-to-riches adventure of a tiny feral kitten catapulted from a hungry beginning in the wild to the luxurious lifestyle of a pampered pet. It is told from the cat's perspective, and I was convinced that Unruh somehow knew what it was like to be a cat. You can see my full review on my page.

message 21: by Sibel (new)

Sibel Hodge | 1 comments Hi fellow cat lovers!

Inspired by my own 8 rescue cats, I've recently written my first children's book about cats and wanted to share it with you.

It's a Catastrophe by Sibel Hodge

For Disney story lovers everywhere!

Think Cats & Dogs meets Toy Story…

Warning! Contains fur-raising adventure, wacky characters, laugh out loud comedy, and heart-warming drama.[/B]

The cats at Briarswood Cottage are lucky. After being rescued from the local Cats’ Home by Ma Katz, they live out their days in luxury under the watchful eye of Buster, the mogfather. But all that’s about to change…

When the local mayor announces that the cat population is spreading a deadly disease, their lives are in mortal danger. There’s no time to paws! Somehow, Ma’s moggies have to organize all the neighbourhood cats to unite as one, getting their claws stuck in to prove their innocence and save each other from certain death.

Can they put aside jealous rivalry and tomcat turf wars to work together as a team and save catkind from extinction?

It’s a Catastrophe is a hilarious hairball of a read for ages 8 to 108!

Peace and love
Sibel :)

Saul Weber (saulweber) | 3 comments Hi I'm Saul Weber, a retired NYC civil servant for the pass three years after having work for the same agency for over 33 years. I wrote my first children's book [an early reader], "A Lesson My Cat Taught Me" in 2005, which conveys the idea of the acceptance of others for who they are and not what they are.
A Lesson My Cat Taught Me by Saul Weber
A Lesson My Cat Taught Me
It finally got picked up by a small press publisher and was released in November 2007. When my contract ended in March 2010, I made the decision to self publish it, and it got released on October 2, 2010. In the Fall of 2009 my book was made a recommended resource by Teaching Tolerance in their magazine.
The current edition of my book was made a runner-up in the 2011 Sharp Writ Awards - Children's Book Category.
I've completed two more manuscripts also for early reader books, and I'm slowly writing a fourth.

Inge Borg (goodreadscominge_h_borg) | 8 comments Hello! 267 members and nothing since March? You can't all be curled up with your favorite feline! So, "wakey, wakey!" Let's have some great chats about those four-footers we obviously all adore.

If Robert hadn't invited me to be a friend, I would not have even known about this group (I do belong to "All about Animals")

My cats were all rescues--so, naturally, I wrote about my incurable Don Juan, named Pasha--and his shelter buddies.

Robert, take a look at my blog. I'd love to feature your Lily Munster (I have a Lilliput, real name Tiger Lilly) with a little story about her and her "white locket."

Let me know...you can PM me if that's something you would entertain.

Robert Smith | 7 comments Hi Cat People:
This seems like a good place to mention my books. I've written two mysteries featuring fictionalized versions of my cats, Yoshi and Gatsby (that's them in my profile pic). The stories are classic "whodunit"s with a little comedy and action thrown in for good measure. These are Kindle e-books available through Amazon. If they sound interesting, please check them out.

I'm working on part two of her life and on other cat stories in my spare time.

Karen & Gerard (wwwgoodreadscomprofilekzemek) | 8 comments Although the book I wrote about my Dad in his memory (MY FUNNY DAD, HARRY)is not about any specific cat, it does include a lot about his many cats he befriended that were strays, especially the 7 cats he let inside. I think any cat lover would enjoy it!

message 36: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) Thank you for the info. I went to Amazon and got the Kindle version. I have three cats and my Phil is very fussy. He wouldn't use the covered litter box anymore for urinating so I had to remove the box. I don't have a problem with him during the day, but at night I don't know if it's the dark or what, but if there is anything in the box from anyone's previous visit he won't use it.

you might do better with an extra box I had that problem with my Tiddles but she eventually got clean. I have had Tiddles for 10 years now and she sometimes cries before she has a pee in her box. Something psychological in her daft mind

message 38: by Polly (new)

Polly Tiller | 27 comments You cat lovers would love reading stories of my cats in "I Need an Exorcism". I never knew cats could be dirty until I got Tiddles from Cat Rescue. We had an epic struggle for a year before she finally got the light bulb moment. I only talked to her in a stern manner saying "You've been a dirty girl." Her ears would go in upset position. Half an hour later I'd pick her up and say "You've got to get the bottom in the litter tray." I put the litter trays on the tiled floor as she often peed next to the litter tray. On the tiled floor I could see if she made a mistake and clean it up quick. She's been clean for years now but she sometimes crie4s before she goes in her litter tray. I got the trays with hoods on. Peeing is a sign of insecurity. When my neighbours puppy got in her back yard she shat on the atairs. That called for extra cuddles for her as she was most upset.

hi DC, my autobiography "I Need an Exorcism" shows the calming influence of cats. When I got my first black cat thirty years ago she brought so much calmness and love into my household. Very true. Not all of my Persians have the problem, the more laid back the purrsonality the less likely they are to have problems outside the box. Many Persians are pee-ers and they do end up in rescue because of that though. :)
