I downloaded it about two weeks ago, so I suspect I am OK.
On the voting on the reviews, you can vote on your own product, not your own review. Since you only get one vote, why not? It isn't like you are going to sway the world one way or the other.

Eventually, all reviews work their way to the bottom (I've got one right now, I wish would slither away into a hole).

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Wise words.

Two weeks ago. Yeah, you should be okay. But, if chapter 34 makes you revise your opinion of the book, let me know and I can chuck a file your way. Save you the hassle of getting Amazon to relinquish the update. Useless blighters.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments It's a fact of life that forums are a weird life form and none more so that the Amazoo forum where the puffed up and self important seem to hold sway.

Anyway, I digress...

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments My Am .com review (and Geoff's) has a no-vote too! Some people need a life. Even a half baked one like mine is better than nowt!

Ward (kd_pl) Done, finished it on the bus this morning. Will be putting together a review over the weekend.

Chapter 34 seemed to flow ok, so I am sure I have the right version.

Ward

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments I await with nervous anticipation.

Thank you in advance Ward, regardlss of the outcome! :)

(And yeah, if you had the wrong version you'd be calling me a very silly man by now.)

message 58: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I read the 'wrong' version and I called you no such thing!

message 59: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments I know, but it's weird, there was a rash of people who read it and liked it, then a batch who read it and objected the obvious too silly bit. I sensed a downward trend and went with my gut, that had always been a bit iffy over that bit anyway.

Hardly a huge scandal, just a change to a few paragraphs here and there.

message 60: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Don't like the sound of a downward trend in your gut. Hope you've got lots of loo paper in?

It's certainly none the worse for the change and I thought the whole book was huge fun. Oops, probably should have saved that for 'Discussions and Spoilers'!

message 61: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Indeed, Ignite, I had been utterly unaware of your thoughts about my book until just then. Tut, tut.

Ward (kd_pl) Jim wrote: "I await with nervous anticipation."
No need to be nervous. It was a fun read, and I did manage to sort through the "humour."

message 68: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Wait, why do you write "humour" like that, is it highlighting the Limey spelling, or are you saying it's "funny" and "amusing", in sarcastic air quotes? :P

Ward (kd_pl) Jim wrote: "Wait, why do you write "humour" like that, is it highlighting the Limey spelling, or are you saying it's "funny" and "amusing", in sarcastic air quotes? :P" I was highlighting that the dumb Yank got most of the jokes :)

message 70: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Oh good. I'm playing the dumb Brit much better than you're fulfilling your role, though ;)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Gigerlilly, I'll go and vote on your review.

Jim I think this is what they call "tall poppy syndrome". It's your first book, your first month and you're doing rather well. I'm living in hope for the day someone finally picks some of my tripe to read on here!

Nice going and don't let them get to you. I must get them to send me the new version then... with the no thingy aliens.

Cheers

MTM

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Haha, they still have thingies... Only less so. :)

I'm very pleased with how things are going. I'm expecting some of the discussion that might arise here won't be quite so easy reading for me, but I expect the rough with the smooth. Had my first really negative feedback today, too, but then the next guy at the same forum bought it.

MTM, I'd like to pump you for info about your paperback version. And, despite being on chapter 3 of Davies book after 3 weeks, I'm so gonna read yours, too.
