I enjoyed the book, because all these people kept asking a little girl what job she was going to have, even though she was only 8 years old! I though that to be rather interesting.
Total pages = 44

I thought this was a cute story. It was about a little caboose named Katy who finally got her wish to live in a tree and to be free at last.

(Dog/God) Overall, this is a great book. I would recommend it to anyone, not just dog owners ( I’m a cat person myself). The stories are funny and remind you to live life to the fullest. The book just reaffirms that no matter what crazy things the four-legged family members do, when they look up at us with those big loving eyes that seem to say "Who - ME?" - our hearts melt and we understand what unconditional love really is.

I enjoy this series. It is not great literature and it doesn't pretend to be but they are great fillers for when I don’t

When only a few weeks old, Dewey was stuff in the returned books box at the Spencer Public Library. When found the next morning he pulled himself up on frostbitten feet and nuzzled each member of the staff in thanks. Dewey stole their hearts and became the town’s library cat. For the next nineteen years he charmed the residents of Spencer with his personality and uncanny sense of who needed his attention most. His fame grew from town to town until he was known worldwide.
The book describes not only happy times, but also deals with some not-so-happy events in the personal life of the author, who obviously received much emotional strength from the cat when she needed it.
Any cat owner will recognize aspects of the life of Dewey, from the crazy things kittens do, to the troubles in life when the cat falls ill and ultimately grows old and dies.

Read another book by an author you first read during the winter challenge.
35. Dreams of Joy
See, Lisa 354 pages
I read Lisa See’s Shanghaii Girls in the Winter Challenge.
The story of May and Pearl continues as Pearl returns to China to find her father. Idealistic, she believes the propaganda that China is thriving under the new regime. When she travels with her father to a work farm to teach art, she falls in love and against her fathers warnings, marries. Within a short time, she realizes the harsh reality of life in China. The love of her sister is demonstrated in the trials she faces as she attempts to locate Pearl and bring her safely home to the United States.
I’ve always enjoyed historical fiction. Lisa See does an excellent job depicting the events of the time period and their implication on the Chinese population, both in China and America.

Her children and friends are concerned that she is not up to the task because of her failing health and eyesight. As they help her with the quilt, she requests they give prayers of thanksgiving as they work on the quilt. Through this action, she passes on her spiritual heritage to the community.
