Dave Etherton | 9 comments just bought a book went to add it to my growing list but when i typed in the isbn from the rear or the book nothing appeared.
the isbn i have is 9780356257716 its published by orbit 2011 and seems to be simular to

less pages only 356. It was purchased from waterstones

is it normal for a publisher to have the same book with different isbn's?

Violetta | 479 comments I made the listing for you.

And the short answer is, yes, each publishing run makes a book eligible for a new ISBN. I'll let someone in the business give a more detailed answer, but suffice it to say that the ISBNs are used by publishers to track sales.

Heather in FL (heather_fl) I've seen one publisher where they have a different ISBN for each e-book format (Mobi, epub, etc.).

Dirk (dirk_p_broer) | 49 comments I've seen the same ISBN numbers used, by different publishers/imprints, for several editions of the same title, each time with different cover art.
