kendal mint cake, made in kendal in Scotland. It's basically sugar and mint solidified, sometimes with stuff added like chocolate. It's used the world over as an energy booster. Great for climbing mountains, scottish or otherwise.
Not I'm not a sales rep for kendal.
I've never heard of it. But I shall keep an eye out for it from now on.
Is Kendal not in the Lake District? Pretty sure Edmund Hillary took mint cake up Everest, and Shackleton took supplies on his trips. Watch your teeth, mind, it's sugary!!
Yea, when you google Kendal it comes up with Cumbria.
Yes it's in the Lakes District. England, not Scotland. I lived in Kendal for a short while. It's a lovely town.
I find them disgusting but unfortunately there is nothing better on a long hike :(

Masses of sugar just makes my teeth ache, the chocolate softens this somehow. Besides it's chocolate and chocolate can do no wrong. Chocolate can go with almost anything, (that's as far as my lynching goes).

In Africa and India and other hot climates they add a chemical to the chocolate to make it not melt so easily. Unfortunately the chemical is a laxative.

I think 'Scottish Tablet' would have the same effect,it is made with 2lb sugar,7oz tin condensed milk and tbsp butter.Certainly not for the diet conscious!
OH yum! I do love Tablet, i think I prefer it to fudge.
This is the first I've ever heard of Scottish Tablet.
Fortunately it needs to be beaten with a wooden spoon for about 15 minutes after taking off the heat, so using up a lot of the calories from eating it!Friends who moved here from NI were horrified when they heard their small daughter had been offered a "tablet" in the playground - they thought that she had been offered a pill of some kind of drug. She was only 7, and they thought they'd moved somewhere dreadful. Much relief when they found out what tablet means here, despite the fact one of them is a dentist...
I'm rubbish at making Tablet,it only sets 50% of the time!I don't think I have the correct 'wrist action'.
