G. Walker | 165 comments Okay, let me put my ignorance on display here (yet again), lol.
I see the rankings for the main categories on Amazon (fantasy, romance, etc..), but I often see people talking about their rankings in sub-categories ("My book is #28 in young adult fantasy on a purple world with flying pigs!).
Where or how do I see my rankings in those categories? I think I saw them once, when I was running a free promotion, but other than that one time, I never see them. What am I missing?

Ken Jeanis (KenJeanis) | 20 comments I am very curious to learn about this! I am listed in sci-fi adventure but don't seem to be listed in sci-fi space opera. I read the blogs and it appeared that many people have the same issue, that they keep getting dropped from sub-categories. From what I discovered, it is very common with no solution. :(

Perhaps your book needs to have more tags supporting the sub genre to get it listed? No idea if that really has any effect just a thought.

I have no idea how any of the categories work David so I'm no help there sorry.

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 56 comments Category rankings show up on product pages once books make it into a category's top 100. Perhaps in the case of very obscure subcategories, Amazon does not produce a table unless there are enough sales/products during some critical period of time.

Ah, yes. That would certainly explain why I never see the sub-categories, lol. Thanks!

G. Walker | 165 comments So, now I'm up in the top 100 on a few categories. Granted, it's in the free categories during my promotion, but it's cool to see it up there anyway, hehe.
#15 - Contemporary fantasy
#18 - Epic fantasy
#48 - Overall fantasy

These will disappear after the promotion ends, so maybe I should take a screen shot, lol.
;-)
