I love this series and exspecially this book because I hated the ending!!! But it's ok I guess because my hatred of the ending didn't detract from it at all!So nows a spoiler just, ya know a warning of that!
I hated how beating Galbatorix was SO simple! By that I don't mean they had an easy time doing it... Nope they had basically lost hope and Eragon and the 100 eldenari he found on that island just used energy to make Galbatorix understand. So he basically committed suicide. Murtagh survived and taught Eragon the name of the ancient language to control magic then left Eragon to go north somewhere.
I also hated the ending- ending like with Ayra. She became a dragon rider! They could've lived forever together in love and all that but Ayra became the queen of the elves and Eragon left Algesia forever to raise the dragon eggs. They whispered their true names to each other and then just went their separate ways.
Not as good as the previous books, but still a good read. Like Nicole said, the ending wasn't the greatest. I think Eragon and Arya shouldn't have ended up together anyway, but the way they were separated didn't feel right.I think Christopher Paolini accidently backed himself into a corner, and that's why certain events (like discovering the Eldunari) occurred.
But still, it was a good conclusion to the saga.
I agree with both of you guys!! I mean if Arya and Eragon ended up together or even had a more emotional goodbye it might have been better. But I still liked it.
i liked it i liked what he did with murtagh(my fav)but i agree it would have been nice to have more arya+eragon
I can't remember which book this quote was from either eldest or brisignr so I'm jut going to put it in this thread lol cause everyone would've read t by now...“You're right though. I should have discussed my plan with you. I'm sorry. From now on, I promise I will consult with you before I do anything you don't expect. Is that exceptable?' (Eragon)
Only if it involves weapons, magic, kings, or family members.' (Saphira)
Or flowers.' (Eragon)
Or flowers. I don't need to know if you decide to eat some bread and cheese in the middle of the night.' (Saphira)
Unless a man with a very long knife is waiting for me outside of my tent.'(Eragon)
If you could not defeat a single man with a very long knife, you would be a poor excuse for a Rider indeed.' (Saphira)”
did you see that bit in the end in the Acknoledgements? wasn't he writing another book or something?
"I don't intend to abandon Alagaesia, however. I've put too much time and effort into building this world, and at some point in the future, I will return to it. That may not occur for another few years, or it might happen next month. At the moment, I can't say. When I do return to it, I hope to address a few of the mysteries that I left unresolved in this series."

I love Angela but like he said, if she wasn't mysterious you wouldn't like her half as muchgrrr...just a little?
Okay. We're discussing this book, so I'm going to be presumptuous and assume everybody here's read it. Alright? Good. So here's what I think of this book:I'm mad about the ending, of course. (Eragon and Arya separating like that, Saphira going on a needless fling with Fírnen, the whole banning magic debacle, et cetera.)
But I am also pretty...what's the right word? Annoyed over the romance between Murtagh and Nasuada. I'm wondering where that idea materialized from. I thought that Paolini just spontaneously slapped us with it.
I may be going all matchmaker over here, but I don't see why Murtagh would fancy her. So maybe she's a strong woman, but...he's a hurting animal. Wouldn't he be drawn to someone more...tender-hearted?
Its been 6 months and I haven't read past page 100. I cheated I read all your spoilers and frankly I don't really care because I saw it all coming. (view spoiler) Can't write the name Arya without thinking of A Song of Ice and Fire
Cy wrote: "Why does he have to leave Alegaesia (is that how you spell it?) forever. WHY WHY WHY???"He has to cause Angela said so an what she says goes lol (joking but she did predict his future when they met in the first book)
Inhertence deluxe edition comes out October 23! I already Pre-ordered my copy (I didn't buy the first edition) and its got art work, a letter to the fans, a letter from jeod, a never-before-published scene etc. I'm looking forward to it!

I really hope he makes another book. The ending of Inheritance was just horrible. Didn't like it at all. However, in any case, I still love the series and it's one of my favourites.

How predictable. Seriously, Isaw this coming a long way away. Maybe Paulini could have spiced this up a bit?
This was a very disappointing ending to my favourite series.
i LOVED THE PREVIOUS BOOKS, but I started to read this one and I have got bored after a few chapters, I am determined to go back and finish the book. But I am unsure when, and now I know that the ending will be rubbish, I hope the middle of the story is good though. I never thought anyway that Christopher paolini intended to write a romance story. He was never going to have that sort of ending I guess.

But he is planning to write a prequel about the dragon riders in the height of their power.

His book letter implies that he'll be writing another, but he'll be starting other projects so not anytime soon.
I really wish eragon and arya got together in this bookI was looking forward to it for the the whole series and it never happened:(
i don't agree with the people who hate the ending i loved the four books but i wished there was more murtagh
