I have submitted the question to KC. I may have gotten a little carried away and told her that we refer to Marlowe as "Diddling Lord Marlowe". You'll all be happy to hear that I told her "the group" calls him this, not me LMAO!I'm probably now on her "Crazies" blocked list! :D

From reading her Q & As, I think she has a sense of humour, so I'm thinking she'll just laugh at what her fans are obsessing over this week!It's all part of my cunning plan to get more Marlowe in the books, you see. If she thinks that Marlowe has thousands of screaming fans then she might write a nice hot sex scene about him! It's perfectly logical. :)

Well, I didn't put anything about Diddling Lord Marlowe in the question, so I don't suppose she'll share it with the world, but yeah, it would be great to know more about Marlowe's court.I suppose it's possible that he doesn't have one, cos he's stuck with the Consul all these years, and run his spy network from the Senate Headquarters.

In answer to your question, I had planned a trilogy of shorts for Marlowe and Gillian, but to be honest, the response has been decidedly underwhelming. Only a handful of people have read and enjoyed them, and while I am really happy that you were one of them, it's kind of made me think that doing the shorts wasn't the greatest idea I ever had. They are time-sucking little monsters, both because of the research involved and because, frankly, I'm not the greatest at writing short fiction. And I can use that time better elsewhere.
Don't get me wrong, I understand her reasoning and why she wants to concentrate on other things. But the OCD part of me gets crazy knowing there is one story "missing" so to speak.

Well, if you're asking .... (cos she must be sick of me and my Marlowe questions) ... I want to ask this:In Curse the Dawn, Alphonse says of Marlowe "I thought he liked stubborn, powerful, complicated types". Any hints about who Alphonse is talking about? And also, why is Alphonse of all people saying this? I don't get the impression he and Marlowe are best buds. How does he know what 'type' Marlowe likes? Do lesser vampires gossip about Senators' love lives the way we might gossip about movie stars?
Do you think this is a dumb question or what? I thought (hoped!) it was quite funny! :)
I always thought he was talking about the Consul. I read it as Mircea saying that "Kit swears she is giving him ulcers" and Alphonse being surprised because Marlowe usually likes this kind of behaviour. But as Mircea says, it's a dangerous time and must feel like the Consul is in real danger to not want the Consul to act like the Consul.
Oooh I've just spotted something I'd never noticed before:"He likes them alive," Mircea said pointedly.

Obviously he's now talking about Cassie and her taking risks. It's kind of like comparing Cassie to the Consul - being stubborn, powerful and complicated. Apart from maybe complicated, the rest could apply to Cassie, though I find it hard to believe that Mircea would have the same taste as Marlowe and go for that "type"...
Okay, so here are two questions I'm thinking of sending in:Actually, Pritkin's predicament is very confusing for me. Francoise's incubus lover (is his name Randy?) doesn't seem to kill the women he sleeps with, and neither does Casanova. So I can think of two possibilities: 1) Only the lord of the incubi (and by extension his son) are strong enough to kill people through feeding or 2) Incubi can control the feeding and turn it off before they hurt their partner. In fact, didn't Pritkin say in HtM that it's considered bad form to hurt one's partner? So, what's Pritkin missing that he suddenly starts to suck the life out of Cassie? It is that his incubus side is too hungry to stop?
and 2) Where are Mircea's female vampires?

I know you must be very busy, so thank you for taking the time to read this email! You're an amazing author and I love reading your books. A few fans and I have a couple questions we were wondering if you would answer.

And secondly, we were wondering where Mircea's female vampires are. The only two we really meet, Sal and Eugenie, were made by Tony. Wouldn't Mircea want one or two female guards around, for things that Cassie might not want a man for? (Like when she was visiting Augustine and needed to change). Is it simply that Mircea was originally very "close" with the female vampires and doesn't want to rub his past in Cassie's face?
