I am currently reading the language instinct by pinker. It is at times so hard to follow. I wonder if it is because of English being my second language or it is a hard read to native speakers as well; especially chapter 7 called Talking Heads is really killing me.

Hi Mehrnaz - I haven't read the book. So I'm not informed enough to answer your question. It sounds like a fascinating book and I can understand how it might be a challenge to read. I've put it on my books-to-read list so I can find out how much of a challenge it is.
Meanwhile, I went to Amazon.com and looked inside the book. For those who are interested, below is a link to that webpage: ====>

I read the first few pages of Pinker's book. He is a pleasure to read and what he says is very exciting. But it takes more than the ordinary concentration to digest all he has to say.
From my small taste of Pinker's book, I would say that Pinker is very readable. He seems to know how to explain things so that his ideas are made clear. I've heard him speak on Book TV and I got that same impression.
However, as I said, I'll have to leave the answer to your question to those who are better informed about the book. Below is a cover link to the book and Goodreads' description:
Welcome to the group, Mehrnaz! I hope you will keep in touch with us.
Best wishes,
Joy
