Kind of funny. I had a story in my head about vampires and werewolves long before i read twilight. Funny thing is that after I started reading myer's books, I subcosiously wanted to name my main character (who is a werewolf) Jacob. I realized very quickly that i couldnt do that.
I think that everything we read has its effect on us, and sometimes when we write in the same genre we need to be extra careful not to let another authors work slip into ours.

haha ... yeah i had a vampire idea like the year before twilight came out. actually, it was the idea that kinda morphed into Soul Stealer. but i was like, "should this be a vampire story? ... Naahhh ..." So I guess that was a good decision, considering the huge vampire craze that followed. ><

idk exactly. the first scene that popped into my head was the one from ... like ... the second chapter, where Eva was standing in the park and watching everyone ... yeah i know that sounds sketchy. lol. ANYWAY, so in, like, seventh grade I wrote that scene. And the whole thing was like "Everyone here will die except for meeee!!" But I didn't know why she WOULDN'T die, so I was like, "hmmm ... vampire ... ?" but that didn't spark any ideas so i was like "naaah ...." Then, like, two years later I came up w/the Soul Stealer idea ... and then combined it w/the Soul Saver idea and it all worked out. The end. :)

well i delete a lot of stuff but i add MORE stuff, so it kinda evens out. some chapters i, like, delete half of them. and then other chapters i add, like, five pages. ><

the chapter i'm editing right now started off i think at seven pages, and now it's like eleven pages. and it's a really boring chapter too. *yawn* it's the one where clio and kami are talking ... and talking ... and talking ... and i'm like "I'M BORED -- I MISS JACK!!! WAAAAHHH!!!" lolz

Well, if you're bored, then the reader will be bored, so maybe making a long, boring chapter longer isn't the thing to do. Perhaps you could shorten it with fewer dialogue tags and briefer speech.

Pshaw. Excuse me, Roni- I was NOT BORED AT ALL during the chapter Brigid is talking about!! And I don't think the whole "if the author feels that way, the reader does too" thing is always true. I mean, many times I'm bored or something about one part in my book, and then I ask ppl who read it if they felt the same way, and they say no, they thought it was exciting or something else or whatever.

i kinda agree w/sella. i'll always write something and i'll be like "this sucks ..." and everyone else is like "THIS IS THE BEST CHAPTER EVER!!!!" lol. usually the chapter i hate is the chapter everybody else loves. sooo ... yeah. idk. weird.
