Hi. I have a short story for free on goodreads and smashwords. A Choice of Destiny is a bit of an experiment in that I think it can be a part of a longer book, but I first want some feedback from readers. It is my first foray into the YA/New Adult age group, as well as my first try at first person present tense. 
Taken from her home and family when she was just a few days old, Illaria has spent her entire life in the Spirit Realm school for the Gifted. But today she has to make a choice that will take her away from the only home she has ever known forever. How does one choose their destiny when they have no idea where it will lead or what the consequences will be?

It started a couple of months ago, a Literary Vampire Remix Writing Contest created by GalleyCat. Writers had the opportunity to participate in this “cooperative” effort to put a new twist on an old vampire classic, being assigned a page of the book to rewrite in whatever style they wished: poetry, a song lyric, freeform, whatever.
The end product has now been compiled, edited, and is free for download on Smashwords. My page was 156. Download the original, and then try the remix!

I think the author really stepped it up in this second book, I found that it was even harder than before to put it down. The characters were very cleverly crafted and at some points I myself didn't know who was good or bad. I really felt as though I was Cassie Oldfield and I felt her confusion and pain. Again extremely geologically correct as well, so I was very pleased.
