The Hunger Games

How old were you when you read this?

I wish I would have known about these when I was younger, maybe around 14.

I believe I was 12, but I MAY have been 13. I DID NOT want to read it at all to start but then I had to read a science fiction for class and my teacher recommended it to me. Soooo I read it. And loved it. Books and subjects know no age. If your mind is mature enough then you are perfectly capable of reading, comprehending, and loving this series.

I think if she understood and liked the Harry Potter series she will be perfectly fine with the Hunger Games if she's interested. There's PLENTY of death in the Harry Potter series. (another one of my favorites!) the Hunger Games is a fantastic read for children, too. It just depends on how well they can comprehend the main idea, I guess.

I think eighth grade and up is good. I think overall the books are a little too dark for a sixth grader to completely understand. But then again, I had reading problems when I was younger, so maybe sixth grade is about right.
