Are you reviewing for content? style? mechanics?

I am the least "ept" at reviewing abstract pieces. The grammarian in me appreciates the use of rich vocabulary, but creaks at words like "irregardless" (an awkward construction created when people usually mean regardless or irrelevant.)

A few quotation marks used as apostrophes can be understood as the typos of a quick typist, or in earlier times, a broken key strike, but those here are too consistent to be typos. And subject/verb agreements compromised by plural subjects and singular verbs can sometimes be attributed to a chosen dialect... or to a hearing impairment, or to a second language with different grammatical structures, in which case I am totally inept at reviewing for accuracy.

The content and author's thought process has been appreciated in many of the reviews already posted here, and as I've read only the opening (freely posted,) I can agree with those reviews based on what I've read so far.

Style is not something to be analytically reviewed, as it appears to be a randomized word associative free flowing style that has and will take its own direction, sane or insane.

I am at a loss as to how to proceed in assigning "stars" (grading was always a conundrum for me) ... how do you quantify all of that down to one finite rank?
