message 1926: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (jennmcd) I loved the portrayal of Tesla in the second book. It was awesome to see him placed somewhere in a fictional world that worked as a place/event that could have been real. I also love the scene where Griffin finally comes to terms with Finley. Also Finley's fight scenes were pretty amazon too...

I didn't think that Divergent was as good as The Hunger Games, but it was still really good. I don't understand why everyone loves it so much...I feel like I'm left out :/

Well, I haven't finished it yet (I'm on page 90), maybe I end up hating it, who knows?
I have the same feeling with Wake by Amanda Hocking. I hated it sooo much and everyone loves it... :/

message 1942: by Missy (new)

Missy | 6 comments I'm waiting to read Crossed by Ally Condie.
I saw some comments on Divurgent earlier. When I read that book, I thought it was somewhat similar to Hunger Games but without the pizazz. However, by the end, I was convinced of its' difference. But Insurgent was the book that really drew me... so hang in there. I think the second book is a lot better!

message 1944: by Marie (new)

Marie | 58 comments I know a lot of people think Divergent and The Hunger Games are similar but to be honest, I never really saw the similarity while reading the books. I can see why people think so but to me it didn't feel that similar. I liked Divergent but to me it was just one book among many others, while The Hunger games is a series that I'll never be able to forget and will stay with me forever but I think the fact that I've read Divergeant in french may have influced my enjoyment of the book so I plan to reread it in english. For some reasons, I also think that I'll like Insurgeat even more and maybe it will help me appreciate Divergent better, not that I hated it!
