M.J. Kane (mjkane) | 82 comments Good morning ladies! You know how we often hear horror stories about the query process, well, I've posted a blog about my experience. While it was not horrifying, it was trying....

I'm still kind of new to Wordpress and the whole thing is definitely a work in progress (like I need another one?)

Looking forward to checking out all y'alls. (Is that right? I'm not Southern but it seemed to fit.)

T.A. Munroe (tamunroe) | 9 comments Can I make a suggestion? Create a link with your book covers to where your books can be purchased. Makes it so much easier for a reader to make an impulse purchase. As retailers, we have to think like that.

Colleen Oakes (colleenoakes) | 10 comments Just wanted to say that I am SO enjoying everyone's blogs and it's made my first foray into the writing world a little bit easier. I actually feel like I have some friends (or at the very least, women who TOTALLY know what I'm going through.) Ladies, you are very smart and I'm so thrilled to have more blogs on my blogroll that don't have to do with Pinterest or cooking!

And now, 4 braods passes the Blogger Award for Unsual Excellence to Peggy Strack whose blog, Kick Back Moments has great insights about slowing down and always offers a little something extra. See more about the nomination at http://4broadminds.blogspot.com/2012/...

Dianne Ascroft | 5 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm coming to this discussion late. I also discuss writing on my blog - my own thoughts and activities and I also interview authors about their work. This week I interviewed a writer who wrote a novel about the Titanic, The Girl Who Came Home. I have a couple more new interviews coming up in the next week or so. My blog is at www.dianneascroft.wordpress.com if you want to check out the interviews. Two other recent interviews I did were with Barbara Kyle and Gillian Bagshaw.

Karen Malena Hello everyone. If we join blogs for each other, don't forget to hit the google+ buttons for that person, tweet, or share to our facebook pages for them. I think this crosses many more paths that way for promotion for one another.

I'd love some visitors to my blog post this week on Kick Back Moments, "Why Brad Paisley's Grandfather Had it Right!" After you read it, I'd also love some help spreading the word about my fundraiser: On December 6 100% of proceeds from "A Stop in the Park" will be donated to the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. Thanks! http://pstrack.blogspot.com

Hi Lynn, your blog post resonated with me on so many levels. Love the idea of writing reviews for Baby Boomers. I write reviews for New York Journal of Books at http://www.nyjournalofbooks.com/revie... and it's been a good learning experience for me.
I am just starting the self-pub process and the steps ahead feel daunting, much like you describe your marketing and review efforts. I keep trying to take small steps and keep going forward and yet...
I will post more thoughts on your site.

Dale Harcombe | 54 comments Have to say I'm not a fan of the term hen lit. Maybe because I don't consider myself an old chook(Aussie term for a hen)Enjoyed the post and yes, I think babyboomers are a reading generation.

Peggy Strack (peggymorehouse) | 96 comments Enjoyed your post Lynn (Baby Boomers are beyond interesting, for sure) and Barbara, The Gift of the Magi is probably my favorite short story.

Carol ~ Keep us posted on your self-publishing journey. For all my ups and down with the process, I'm so glad I have my story between the covers of a book and not at the top of my closet collecting dust. I'm half way through the first draft of novel #2. Let's see where that leads????? All the best ~ Peggy

Kathryn O'Halloran | 2 comments Because I write a combination of chick lit and erotica, I try to explore both on my blog - but not in an explicit NSFW way. I am currently working on a novel set in 1860s Japan so include interest things I find in my research both about historical and modern day information.

J.D. Chase (jdchase) | 7 comments Hi all, I've been tagged in The Next Big Thing Blog Hop. If you haven't heard of it, it is a chance for authors around the world to say what they’re working on. The author answers 10 questions about their next book, and tags the person who first tagged them and a few other writers to continue the blog hop. Unfortunately, every one of my author friends has already participated or doesn't wish to. Are there any authors who would be willing to participate? I would be extremely grateful - I don't want to let the author down who tagged me. If you could reply or message me that would be great. Thanks

M.J. Kane (mjkane) | 82 comments Happy Friday Friends!

Can you believe there are only THREE MORE DAYS in 2012!!! Neither can I!!

So much has happened with writing this year that I don't know where to begin except be extremely grateful to my fellow authors who have shown such amazing support, and to the readers and fans who have purchased my book, commented, and supported me!

As 2012 winds down, I am making moves to have a productive start to 2013. One of them has been switching my blog(s) over to one location. There will no longer be a This Writer's Life and The Butterfly Memoirs blog. They have been combined into one new site...Author M.J. Kane. All the helpful blogs, interviews, and author features from This Writer's Life can be found on this site. The MOST POPULAR BLOG POSTS and ADVICE ON WRITING have tabs set up for easy access. Any information about THE BUTTERFLY MEMOIRS, character interviews, bios, sample chapters, and more (check it out because there's a new page about Brian Young in the Musings of a Musician section), are there. The new book, JADED will soon have it's own page with information about the story and characters as well.

So, take the time to drop by and LIKE, TWEET, SHARE, and of course FOLLOW by email so you can stay in the loop of what's going on with me and THE BUTTERFLY MEMOIRS!!

Happy New Year!
