I've noticed that quite a few of you are Goodreads authors. I'm sure others have writing that group members might be interested in.

Do you write stories with Gothic elements? Dark fiction?

Post here.

My voice echoes in here, it's so quiet.

My blog, prologue and the first two chapters of my Gothic Fantasy 'The Taint: Sorrow's Child'.

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments My books have been described as Victorian Noir. They are gothic, most definitely and also get tagged as horror quite a lot but they are also quite romantic in parts. They are historical crime novels.

Hi D.E. Your books look great. I've added them to the groups books. I look forward to reading them when I get the chance!

:) Georgina.

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments Cool! Thank you. They are certainly a bit gothic. Can't help myself. All that fog. Bring it on.

I've added them to my to-read list too. As soon as I get some time to read...:) Georgina. (Fog does stir the imagination doesn't it?)

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments It does. I suggest start with the 2nd book - THE DEVIL'S RIBBON - if you get time. Don't ask me why, but it seems to work better this way for readers. More personal stuff of lead character in 2nd but they are not sequential. There are some giveaways for both books in run up to St Patrick's Day on Saturday so do look out for these. If you want me to post the details, let me know and I will.

Brendan Carroll (brendancarroll) | 4 comments I'm not exactly a full blown Gothic Fantasy or Dark Fantasy writer, but my writing does have dark overtones throughout the 30 book series (26 are currently published and I'm editing and touching up #27). My main character is a rather dark personality, Scottish, 800 years old. His occupation as a Templar Knight left over from the Dark Ages, is Alchemist/Assassin for an ancient Order of Warrior monks trying to get by in the modern world and not doing a very good job at it. As the series progresses, things get darker and there be dragons and other monsters along the way.
Thank you for the invitation and happy reading (and writing) and whatever it is that you like to do.
Here is a link to my blog where you can find my book links if you like.

See my profile for more details, and if you want a FREE PDF copy of my Horror novel (in return for doing a review), just sign up here:

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) | 14 comments I don't really write Gothic fantasy but my stuff does get pretty dark. I do throw humor, romance, and action in also to mix it up. My fist novel Modern Disciples Volume 1 by Ian Anderson is the beginning of a saga about modern day children of gods. These children, known in this world as disciples, fight a never ending battle between the spawn of the Titans, gods, and other disciples. I am currently working on getting Volume 2 published and writing Volume 3. Here are some links to where you can sample a couple of the chapters.

Links to my fairy tales on GR, although they are available on smashwords etc, and on amazon as 'Fairy Tales for Freya'.

There are also excerpts from past drafts of 'The Taint' series. Characters I've left behind (I think...)
http://www.goodreads.com/story/list/6...

Some of these stories have erotic elements but they are subtle, nothing graphic or disturbing.

I added your book to our bookshelf too Raymond. :) Georgina.

Natalie Owens (nataliegowens) | 5 comments Hey all, and Georgina - how are you? So here I am... First, I have a literary horror short called "A Kind of Judgment" - it has a bit of a gothic feel to it. I also have a paranormal romance short (with - again - that gothic vibe) called "Something to Live for". If someone reads these stories, I would appreciate your thoughts! Thank you so much for allowing me to post here...

The Haunting at Blackwood Hall by Barrymore Tebbs

Drawing room seances, rumors of witchcraft, the howling of the wind at the windows, phantom lights in the abbey ruins, mysterious piano music in the night...

Mark Carver (markcarverbooks) | 6 comments I've written an ultra-Gothic supernatural thriller called The Age of Apollyon. It's got everything delightfully dark: cathedrals, demons, Satanism vs. Christianity, graveyards, Latin incantations.

And lots of guns.

Check out the official website:
http://theageofapollyon.blogspot.com

message 43: by Craig (new)

Craig Hallam (craighallam) | 6 comments Hey Mark, it seems we're similarly minded! hahaha

My debut novel has been recently released, and it's full to the brim of meaty Gothic-goodness. Hideously scarred anti-heroes, insane scientists, assassins and sewer-dwelling rebels. Drop them all into a city made of alleyways and crumbling architectural follies and you've got yourself a rip-roaring good time :D

Greaveburn

So far, the reviews have been excellent with the novel being likened to Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and the works of Charles Dickens all rolled into one.

Hope you guys get a chance to take a look.
