Hello Braelyn! :D
I highly recommend the Cinder series if you're interested in Sci-fi Fantasy. For action thriller, I suggest the Maze Runner or Legend series. If you like stories with angels/demons I recommend Blood&Bone, Blue Bloods, or Fallen. For purple prose stories: Shatter Me and The Star-Touched Queen. If you fancy some extreme fantasy I suggest Red Queen series, Ember in the Ashes, Throne of Glass series, The Night Circus (not YA but worth it), Young Elites series, Fallen Kingdoms series, Tiger's Curse series, Graceling, The Selection series, and the Iron Fey series!

Sorry to bombard you with this list LOL. I get excited when people ask for recommendations

message 4815: by Brad (new)

Brad Jensen (bradjensen) | 12 comments Hi Everyone.

Full disclosure upfront here, I am an author.

Some books I've recently read: Wild, Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar Children, The Prince of Tides, The Book Thief, All The Light We Cannot See, The Hobbit, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Forever Watch, The Orenda, Navajos Wear Nikes, and Travels With Charley. I have pretty varying tastes in fiction and literature, as you can see. I'm currently reading East of Eden, by John Steinbeck, and Dull Knifes of The Pine Ridge, by Joe Starita (both are X-so-lent!).

One of my books, THE REZ's EDGE, is here on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

REZ's EDGE is about growing up as a white kid next to an Indian Reservation with American Indian friends, enemies, and classmates. That was my life back in the 1970's; disco, heavy metal, rock and roll, bell bottom jeans, and racism. The book, though, is fictional. I just used a lot of things from my past in it's creation.

I write to pull one into the shoes and body of my characters. I want my readers living an alternate life when they are engulfed in my books. I spell this out further in my BIO (About Brad Jensen), which you'll find right next to my book description. Give it a read, if you want.

If anyone has any killer recommendations for a YA coming of age or youth adventure novels, I'm all ears. Drop me a note!

If you're interested in reading two pre-released chapters in THE REZ's EDGE for free, you can do that on my website here:

http://bradjensen.wixsite.com/authorb...
Just scroll down and click the "Membership Access" button, underneath the Indian Powwow Boy.

THE REZ's EDGE is not yet published, but I'm working on that issue right now. I'll be shouting about it when it is released. Wish me luck.

Stay Adventurous & Keep READING!

Brad Jensen

Ashlyn (thequeerbookworm) | -27 comments Hello there! My name is Ashlyn and I read YA primarily. My favorite genres are dystopian and contemporary, but I'll read pretty much anything! Some of my favorite books/series: Before I fall by Lauren Oliver, The Testing trilogy by Joelle Charbonneau, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (not ya but really good!!), The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Since you've been gone by Morgan Matson, and The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider. The authors of these books probably make up my list of favorites! I read pretty slowly, so I have a lot of popular books to catch up on (Cassandra Clare's series, Sarah j mass, Rochelle mead, etc)! Still, I'll take any recommendations and add them to my already massive tbr :p

Sharon Erika wrote: "What's your name? Favorite book? Author?"

Hello, I'm Sharon and I love to read. Unfortunately, life got in the way of my reading and I haven't been doing much reading. This year I vowed to get back to my reading, and have been thoroughly enjoying reading again. My favorite type of books are dystopian books. I don't really have a favorite author, because I am still discovering who is out there. However, my favorite childhood author was Judy Blume, and my favorite childhood book was "Are you There God it's me Margaret?"

Candie Kirby | 1 comments Hi I'm Candie from Texas! Fell in love with reading in middle school. I was in to mystery and horror. Loved R.L. Stine and Nancy Drew. Then I became too wrapped up in makeup and "being cool" when high school started. Now I'm a mother of 4 and fell back in love with books. It started with Harry Potter and has grown oh so much. With 500+ books in my collection I love to add to it every chance I get. Harry Potter, Nicholas Sparks books, Twilight, and Christopher Pike books are the first books I bought to fuel my love for this passion of mine.

Helen Bell (helenbellauthor) | 13 comments Hi Chloe, lots of good stuff on here, have a wander round the reviews.

If you're into YA have you tried Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book, Terry Pratchett's The Wee Free Men, or anything by Cassandra Clare? And not (yet!) one of my all time favourite writers, but lots of people love Sarah Maas.

Check out some of the free reads too - there are so many great writers who aren't known yet. Or go mad and look my series up (there are a few more reviews on Amazon than here yet).

Enjoy!

Kari (bookishk5274) Hi everyone! I am Kari, and I love to read pretty much anything but my favorite is YA fantasy. Like most everyone else in the world, I am a huge fan of Harry Potter and a new fan of Percy Jackson. Also, I am really into retellings, I just love how authors change something that has been around for so long and make something new and beautiful with it. My favorite author is Ellen Hopkins because of her tendency to real life stories that usually do not end happily. All reading suggestions are welcomed!
