I find that some of my very very favorite books are in those categories, and I'm usually reading at least one of them, even while reading books more meant for my own age group. I recently read Cinder by Marissa Meyer and loved it, also loved Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. And Rebecca Stead, Richard Peck, the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley, the list goes on. That is the good news, the bad news being that I don't have very many real life friends who have even the remotest interest in anything I've just said. I loved the outsiders too, I read a lot of other stuff by S.E. Hinton as well, but it has been so long! I read part of 'Looking For Alaska' when researching to write my previous YA Novel, but I had thought it would be about Alaska, not a girl named Alaska.
