A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME ARE...

ALMOST FORGOT TO SAY...

I'm Lindsey. I like to read a lot of YA paranormal, Fantasy, and Science Fiction. Some of my favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Cassandra Clare, Suzzane Collins, Rick Roirdan. I spend a lot of time reading and try to read whatever I can get my hands on.

Oh, I love Of Mice & Men! That ending made me cry..
Yea thats why i love it so much. A book that makes you feel something and really think about yourself and how you interact with people around you is a great book. Also first time i read it I was 13 haha

Hey peoples!
My name's Ricky, and I'm a big fan of too many YA stories to count. But I think I have to declare Miss Peregrine and Sigma Force as my fave books, and James Patterson and JK Rowling as my favorite writers!

Suppose you are an alien from outer space. You are going to a planet called earth. What you know about earth is that it is inhabited by male and female Homo sapiens in about equal numbers. The population live in multiple societies with varying forms of government, economic systems, and religious doctrines. That's it. So, your expectations when you get to this planet is that there will be about equal numbers of male and female leaders in those areas.
You get to earth. Lo and behold, you find that the earth's systems are dominated by males. Really dominated. What explains this phenomenon?
Answer: Men are superior to women in the important ways that make society's function. How so? Men are wired differently, have different levels of chemicals in them --chemicals that make important differences with regard to success in important areas (eg., business and economics)-- and are for the most part, physically stronger. These are key factors to lead men to occupy higher levels of control. Which they grab. And hold.
Hold by many times using practices that further increase their power over women. Men are not altruistic. For example, men use religion to suppress women. Will there ever be a female Pope? Men use marriage to enslave women. By saying "I do" a man gets everything he needs that he would otherwise have to pay for. Hey, just ask yourself, does a man really do his fair share of the housework, care for the children, etc? Be honest. We have ways of conditioning women to think that they are responsible for their malaise when they feel treated unequally. I'll save those for later.
Twigo has to deal with many of these attitudes. give her a look, and see how she does.
I could go on, but let's see what y'all have to say.

I'd love to get more YA recommendations, as I'm on a real kick with it lately and you read them so fast. I liked the Cassandra Claire ones a lot. Or anything Hunger Games, dystopian, that sort of thing. Excited to be here!

Ivona, have you read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer? It's such an amazing paranormal trilogy, and there's romance in it. The last book in the trilogy comes out in November.

Name: Shelina/Shelly/Shellybean/Rumi
Favourite book: The book I just finished reading - Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor :D (if you've read it, and loved it, let me know! I really need someone gush with xP)

One of the things that sets me apart from almost every single teenage girl out there seems to be that:
I have absolutely NO attachment whatsoever to romantic books, which means that i don't like romance novels at all, i just don't care if the girl gets the guy in the end or how much the prince loves the princess, it's just like every other emotion, only that some authors waste several pages explaining just how the protagonist feels a special way about someone, and while wasting precious words and pages, most of the plot seems to go lost with them.
I love books with enjoyable plots (it doesn't have to be the most well written plot to be a lovable one)and i like original ones with mind blowing plot twists that suddenly ties up every loose thread perfectly to make the book complete. Or just something along those lines. As long as it has something special.

The majority of what I read is YA. I love fantasy, contemporary and romance books the most.
My fav book is "Slammed" by Colleen Hoover.
