Lauren | 1 comments Hi! I'm Pine (yes. It's an awful first name so i go by Lauren) and I love Young Adult books. I mostly read YA Dystopian books. Some of the YA Dystopian books I've read are,
Shatter me series
Delirium series
Knife of never letting go series
Maze runner series
Matched trilogy
Hunger games trilogy
Divergent trilogy
Under the never sky trilogy
Gone series
Iron fey series
House of the scorpion
Etc. I have been reading my whole life. It is my passion. When I'm not in a musical or rehearsing for a performance of some sort, I'm reading. When I am not at soccer or basketball practice I am reading. My grandmother was a librarian and she always pushed reading. The very first YA Dystopian book I read was The Giver. That is an amazing book. I then moved on to the knife of never letting go. By then I was hooked. My favorite book of all time is a three way tie between Gone With the Wind, Little Women, and The Giver. My favorite author is Ray Bradbury. Gotta love the classics. I also am fond of the works of Stephen King. Please give me suggestions. I am constantly struggling to find a new great YA Dystopia book.

anthea (saph95) Hi guys! Sorry to bother, this is slightly irrelevant but it's for a good cause!

I'm trying to raise some money for a charity called Wishing on a Star. Which is a charity that grants wishes to sick children! This is a charity very close to my heart as my 11 year old cousin recently died of a heart defect, and didn't have a chance to get to go to DisneyWorld which is what he really wanted.

I want other children to be able to have this opportunity, and I'm a student so I'm pretty poor! I think raising money even if it's just a little is a good start! Thanks so much.

All you have to do is click the ad on my blog! It's that simple!

Laurel (shadowofwednesday) Hi, I'm Laurel and I'm not only a newbie in this group, but I'm new to Goodreads as well. I figured this would be a good place to discuss some of the obscure books that I like, the ones that don't have huge fandoms. I hope that I was right...anyway, I don't really have a single favorite book, but I do really enjoy Harry Potter and The Golden Compass, as well as a whole bunch of other books that would take too long to list. I also don't have a favorite author, although Maggie Stiefvater is up there.

message 2475: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Hi. My name's Nicole and I'm from Sydney, Australia. While not technically a youth (I'm almost 30) I do love youth fiction particularily paranormal fiction. Though sometimes I must admit I do still sometimes get embarrassed about being in the "youth" section in book stores. Like people might be judging me.

Some of my faviourite series include:
- Harry Potter (obviously).
- Obernewtyn series (I can't wait for the final book to come out next year. I feel like I've been waiting forever).
- Vampire Academy series.
- Inheritance Series.
- Divergent Trilogy (can't wait for the movie).
- Hunger Games Trilogy.
- House of Night series (especially the earlier novels inthe series).

I'm going to be controversial and say I'm not a big fan of the Twilight Series. In my opinion Stephanie Myers is not a good writer. But that's just my opinion, no judgement to those who love the series.

You can and you will publish in your chosen genre one day. I've read HP, Twilight and The Selection, not Holly Black's stuff yet though. Enjoy the group!

message 2485: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2 comments Hi I’m Katie. I don’t really believe in having a favorite book, because I love many small parts of different books. I enjoy reading everything thing from Clockwork Prince to Fifty Shades of Grey. My favorite author that doesn’t annoy me with her writing is defiantly Molly McAdams. She is so direct and doesn’t beat around the bush when she writes, but puts tons of feelings and expression into her work. I value that a lot, since I can’t stand people that won’t say what they think I defiantly don’t like author’s that do that in their writing.

message 2486: by Brittney (new)

message 2492: by Red (new)

Red (littleredreader) I'm Caitlyn. My favorite YA book would have to be "The Devouring" by Simon Holt. That book and that series I just adored and could reread it a million times. (My favorite book in general would probably be either Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy or "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald).

I don't know if I have a favorite author either, but if I had to pick one I consistently love, it would have to be Ellen Hopkins. (Impulse, Tricks, Identical, etc. Love them.)
