Matt Galeone Hey Everyone. My 1st trilogy is now available. It's called The Champion of Clarendon Ditch. It's soft sci-fi and really character based. The themes are loneliness, sacrifice, friendship, and heroism. My biggest influences were Ender's Game and the Dark Phoenix Saga. My main Character, Adam Darvin, is sort of Ender Wiggin meets Conor Oberst.

The first book in the next trilogy (sort of a sequel to The Champion of Clarendon Ditch) will be out early next year. You can purchase The Champion of Clarendon Ditch on Amazon, Create Space, Kindle, Nook, or on the publisher's website: http://1strideenterprises.com/1st-rid...

Jonathan (archamedes) Hi! My name is Jonathan. I love reading just about anything, but YA has a special place in my heart. My favorite series are The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. Right now I'm on book 2 of The Chemical Romance Trilogy (and loving it). I will graduate this December with my BA in English and I want to try and write some YA fiction of my own. Wish me luck!

My favourite books are the Harry Potter series, The Modern Faerie Tale series by Holly Black and I really enjoyed The Mortal Instruments. Currently reading Linger and loving it :)

I'm looking for friends to share some book recommendations and talk about YA books :)

message 2258: by zack (last edited Sep 27, 2013 06:06AM) (new)

zack (dostojevskijs) Oh, I suppose I should introduce myself! Well, I'm Didrik and I'm pretty I don't know anything better than reading a good book. I don't really have a favourite genre as I tend to jump between genres a lot - though, I seem to have a (big) weak spot for The Harry Potter series and Young Adult books - but I'm currently reading the novelization of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and about to start A Clockwork Orange, which I'm hoping will be really good once I figure out the whole Nadsat part of it.

message 2259: by C.W. (new)

C.W. Slater | 4 comments Hi I am C.W. and I'm new to goodreads - I have written a Young Adult novel called Fine Young Gentlemen which is a male take on private high school. I read a lot of sci-fi and dystopian stuff and I will be writing some YA sci-fi going forward. I'm loading up my reading lists with some of the novels discussed here.

Taylor Hello everyone! My name is Taylor and I look forward to discussing books with you.

message 2263: by Lawrence (new)

Lawrence (lawrencetabak) I'm reading and writing YA on a daily basis. Just finished Moon Over Manifest, which might be considered MG by narrator age, but is really quite sophisticated in narrative technique and subject matter. Recently read The White Darkness, which won a Printz back in 2007 or so. Speaking of mad characters, also just read Jackie Mitchard's Now You See Her -- I bet Nova Ren Suma was taking notes while putting together 17 & Gone.

message 2264: by Tia (new)

Tia Jenkins (tia_jenkins) HI, my name is Tia! I love reading YA. Well, I love reading period. My favorite book right now is Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It tends to change periodically. And i have two favorite authors. Jennifer L. Armentrout and Quinn Loftis.

V.K. Green (vkgreen) | 2 comments Hi Everyone,

I am VK Green. A bit about me would run something like am a autistic student who happens to be good with literature. I am a big fan of the lord of the rings series and consider Harper Lee and JRR Tolkien as my influences!

As a side note i have just come out with my first book The Tale of the Wulks. I have tried to use fantasy-adventure to illustrate the truth behind autism and how much autistic individuals add to the positive whole of society.

I could go on but then this post isn't about my book, it's about me!
I look forward to connecting with you all

VK Green

message 2272: by Mary (new)

Mary (infinitebibliophile) | 1 comments Greetings and Salutations, I'm Mary. I love reading and am open minded to just about anything, except nonfiction. My favorite books are Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments, Divergent, and The Hunger Games (because that's totally not what everybody likes). I love John Green, JK Rowling, Cassandra Clare, Veronica Roth, and Gabrielle Zevin (who I just randomly added so I would seem at least a little unusual).

I'm J.J. Phillips. I am putting the finishing touches on a young adult paranormal book. I have too many favorite books to list them all. I LOVE TO READ!!!! The author who turned me on to reading was VC Andrews. Today, my favorite is Slyvain Reynard, but tomorrow that will likely change.

Question: What is the one thing that always hooks you into a story?

Both books are the first of a series. Both are YA, paranormal fantasy, and the Guardian is also sci fi.

Okie Dokie | 22 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Kim, new to this group and new to Good Reads in general. I'm a super-nerd (as I accepted in college). My longest running favorite books are The Giver by Lois Lowry & Flowers for Algernon. Currently, in addition to those, my favorites are the Hunger Games Trilogy, Persuasion by Jane Austen, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, the Slammed Trilogy by Colleen Hoover, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, darn there's just too many "favorites." I'm sure I can go on and on but I won't bore you anymore. =)

Hoping to find kindred spirits!

Nicole (Diary of a Bibliophile) (diaryofabibliophile) Hello everyone. My name is Nicole. I live in the US. I'm new to the group & fairly new to the YA world. I LOVE to read. It's odd to see me walking around without a book. I carry the book I'm reading around with me everywhere (unless I'm at the store shopping, which btw is my 2nd favorite hobby). I'm 27 years old. I'm used to reading Dean Koontz & Stephen King, but I'm looking to branch out & see what else I can find. I've read The Hunger Games trilogy & absolutely loved it. I was also really into the House of Night series for a while. When I got to the 8th book, I just couldn't get into it. I also read the Twilight series & really enjoyed it. I have ALOT of books on my to read list. I'm really looking forward to getting the 6 books that I just ordered in the mail. I ordered Divergent & Unwind, both of which I can't wait to read.

message 2296: by Cinthya (new)

Cinthya Mori (cinthya_mori) Hi! My name is Cinthya. I from Peru (by the way... an amazing country :D ) I´m 17 and I´m studying at the University (Politic Science)I love Reading, well I guess that´s obvious that´s why I´m here! I love all the fantasy, fiction series of book: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the rings, Artemis Fowl, Divergent, The name of the wind, Legend and many others (but not Twilight, I prefer not to say why now) Why do I like series? I guess it´s because I don´t like stories that have and end, althought many of them already have one ;( I have to admit that I´m the kind of person that download books from internet but if you knew how expensive are books in my country you would understand :/ Greets for everyone :D
Pst. If you find a gramatical mistake it´s because I´m a native speaker of Spanish :D

When I'm not reading or writing I'm spending time in my garden or taking pictures.
