Re-introducing myself to the community.

Hello all, I go by Nova as an online alias, she/her pronouns. I am 23 years old, from the United States. Aside from reading, writing, and libraries, my hobbies and interests include art, gaming (primarily Overwatch 2), spending time in nature, and mental wellness.

I mainly read YA and New Adult fiction. My attention span sucks, so I prefer to stick with books that have a fast and gripping plot that hooks you in, a.k.a. "page-turners". I mainly read thrillers and dystopian books for this exact reason. I also have a thing for characters that are unlikable and imperfect, but enjoyable to read.

I dislike romance books unless they are nerd romance, i.e. Alexene Farol Follmuth's books (she made My Mechanical Romance, one of the best romance books I have ever read that took me back to my high school days in the MESA club). I also don't like books with slow plots, especially if it takes roughly half the book for the pacing of the story to pick up.

My most recent favorite YA book is Six of Crows; I believe that that duology is much better than Bardugo's Shadow and Bone series. Even in the Netflix series, I could not get enough of the crows, and it is disappointing how they got so little screen time compared to Alina, Mal, and The Darkling.

Some other books that have gotten me out of a reading slump were Legend by Marie Lu, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and Divergent by Veronica Roth.
