My name is Monique. I love enemies to lovers and Sarah J Maas is my favourite author.
The genres I love to read is YA, historical, romance and fantasy.
Hope to get to know you all and make some new friends.

You can call me Azz/Azzy/Azzi for short, and I love to read romance, fantasy, sci-fi, and paranormal. I get really high sometimes and I love to make people laugh. My favorite authors are- just check my account page :/ anyways, I hope to get along with you guys!

i adore ya, fantasy and contemporary! some of my favourite ya novels are six of crows, the cruel prince, kingdom of the wicked, these violent delights, the inheritance games and caraval! i hope to get along w/ everyone here!
Hi guys! My name is Lily, I'm 19, and I'm beginning to read again after taking a hiatus during my teenage years. I loved all of the Harry Potter books and the Percy Jackson books. Now I read romance novels (pretty much exclusively). I just joined GoodReads and I'm so excited to meet everyone!!

Follow me on goodreads and IG @the_literarylady and lets chat!

i haven't really read many books so i feel like i'm kinda new to this reading thingy, hence, i would really appreciate recommendations and any general information i need to know abt reading and stuff!!! :D

You're in a good place! Reading takes you places that even movies and television can't. I think it's because it's like you crawl into a book--like you actually go to that world, much more than in a movie. (And don't get me wrong, I love movies and TV.) I don't know. Has that been your experience? That total immersion thing?
I loved the HP books, too, and am reading them to my nephew now. I've only read the first of the Percy Jackson books.
Most recently, I loved one of our Books of the Month, Clap When You Land. It's a verse novel, and the language makes me feel her emotions so well. If you read it, jump on the discussion thread and we'll meet you there!

Madeleine L'Engle is my fave.
And here's my Francesca Lia Block story: I was at the American Library Association conference in 2012, a wonderland where you meet authors at every turn and get free, signed books. I was in the back of a line for a Francesca Lia Block signing and got into a group conversation with a bunch of writers, including this very animated woman I immediately connected with. The line was long and the time for the signing was getting close. I had another signing to get to (my own) and wondered if I'd get to meet the author. At that point, the animated woman I liked so much looked at her watch and said, "I'd better get going," and promptly went to the front of the line, sat down at the desk, and began signing books.

BTW, I think we're not supposed to talk about this here, but I just looked up your Urbantasm series and it looks pretty danged fascinating.

i'm swara, gen-z stereotype, introverted bookworm, avid twilight-hater, & self-proclaimed anime enthusiast (i have watched barely five episodes of naruto and mha each but i still like them lol). i'm from SoCal and that is my defining personality trait
Recurring genres of mine include ya fantasy, mystery, contemporary, and adult contemps.
my favorite trope is enemies-to-lovers - i can hear u judging me.
i'm OBSESSED with misunderstood villains; draco malfoy is the best person to exist periodt (oh but doofenshmirtz is really close!! ugh *chef's kiss*)
authors include but are not limited to: cassandra clare (a gift from above), tahereh mafi, john green, sabaa tahir, marie lu, nicola yoon, maureen johnson, roshani chokshi, veronica roth, & victoria aveyard
aside from reading, my life is pretty boring; i love musicals, specifically DEH, rent, and hamilton; taylor swift; and nail art.
anyway, my account is basically a jem carstairs stan account, so feel free to friend/message me if you're willing to put through my hours of ranting abt how he deserved better

honestly.... I've read so much books, especially series' when pandemic started. It was also when I got into YA. One thing I'm sad about... It's getting harder to find good YA books TwT

My preference is YA Dystopian stories.
Thoughts?

I’m just joined today but hope to find some new friends and have discussions about books we read together! My favorite topic: what should I read next? 😄

Thank you for the kind words, Katherine! :)
I *love* your Francesca Lia Block story. She is very active on Twitter, and it's neat to have a popular author I enjoy so accessible and open to communication with her fans! That kind of story is also nourishing right now, when so much of literary life is online... just imagining meeting and chatting with an author I admire is absolutely delicious!

Hi Lucrezia,
Good for you writing and reading in English. My second language is French and I admit I am sometimes lazy when I have a choice between English and French. It's good for my brain, though.

That's awesome. Checked out your website and it's impressive. We do have to be careful here about doing promo in the discussion threads. There is an authors area for us, where we can do giveaways, though. It's a good balance.
Welcome!

I'm fairly new to Goodreads as an author but have been part of Amazon book buying for a very long time! Always have many books on the go that I am reading with my 4 boys! Would love to read more within the genre and I am writing in so book recommendations are always wanted! Thanks!

Hi Katherine,
I understand perfectly, every now and then I also find myself choosing my first language, that is Italian, compared to English but I try to encourage myself to choose English to be able to keep in training.
