Megan (iwishiwasreadingrightnow) | 4 comments Hi my name is Megan. I am a very open reader so I have trouble picking a favorite genre, but I think right now it is fantasy. My favorite book is most often the last book I read! Also this is my first time being on a community.

message 8263: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (lilabreezey) I'm Andrea. I've been on goodreads since like high school I believe. But just recently joined a couple groups. I think that has to do with the fact that I joined a group on another media site and I like interacting with other people about the same thing so I decided to do that on here. I love YA books, its really the only genre I read. They can be fantasy or dystopian or what I refer to as "real fiction" for example Sarah Dessen books. Although I favor fantasy/dystopian. I read as a way to relax and escape into that world.

I've read quite a bit of books. I can't pick just one as a favorite but I do have some favorite series such as Red Queen, Hunger Games, Divergent, Mara Dyer, and The Selection. I don't really have a favorite author either. As long as the book has a good story and pulls me in.

So check out my read list and if you've read them or want to read them, let's discuss it. Or if you like any of the series I listed above, let's discuss those too. Happy reading

message 8271: by Kerri (new)

Kerri Marie (readkerrimarie) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Kerri and I love to read (obviously) and also write. I studied an English Literature degree where I got to devour endless books and I got accepted to do a creative writing dissertation which was my dream. I've always loved YA and it is still my favourite, despite the fact I am no longer a young adult and in fact a mummy to two children now!

I know to many it might seem crazy but I really don't have a favourite book or author. It all depends on how I am feeling and what stage of my life I am currently in so it always changes. Reading the twilight series was a big deal for me when I was younger and I re-read them again this year and loved it. I also loved the Malorie Blackman Noughts and Crosses series. There are honestly so many I've read and re-read and I can't possibly choose.

Ever since I was young, I've suffered with anxiety (mostly social and health anxiety). Reading (and writing) for me has always provided the greatest escape and distraction and I know it always will be. While I've written and published a non-fiction book to guide parent's in helping their children who suffer from anxiety, I am currently working on a fiction young adult novel (which I have been writing for a number of years on and off) and I am nearly finished! The main character also suffers with anxiety and I hope the book will offer comfort and support for those who suffer from anxiety and awareness and understanding for those who don't.

I am always on the look out for recommendations and look forward to getting to know some of you better!

Amy G. (bookwormmom88) | 2 comments I'm a single mother of 3 awesome kiddos, whom I love more than life itself....however... it's not always easy to like them! Lol. Reading is my saving grace! 0n those days when the kids don't want to do their chores, or when they won't quit arguing, or refuse to listen to me...Reading takes me to another place. I'm able to escape to another where fairy-tales are real & the problems aren't mine! I definitely love my books!

message 8276: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Elisabeth and I'm from Germany. Not only do I love reading, I'm also on a constant hunt for special editions, signed copies etc.
My favourite books are Shakespeare's Hamlet, Stoker's Dracula, Six of Crows by the wonderful and talented Leigh Bardugo, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson and House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig. And though not listed among my favourite books of all time, I still want to mention Christina Henry as one of my favourite authors, because every book of hers I've read so far was really enjoyable and I'm definitely going to read her other works as well.

message 8279: by isabella (new)

isabella (isabellabambolina) Hi, my name is Bella and I live in the UK.
My favourite book changes all the time but it’s usually one of these: 99 days/9 days and 9 nights - Katie Cotugno; I’ll give you the sun - Jandy Nelson; black ice - Becca Fitzpatrick; or Frat Girl - Kiley Roache.
My favourite book series has to be the Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater. I love the humour and Cole St Clair.
My favourite authors are Katie McGarry and Maggie Stiefvater.
I tend to live at my local library as I can’t afford to constantly buy books!!
My favourite genre is most probably YA romance (typically contemporary), however, I do love a good fantasy novel (*coughs* From Blood and Ash - Jennifer L Armentrout).

Desiree (sindakhelekwen) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Desirée and I love to read. My favorite author is Anne Bishop and my favorite book, in this case series, is The Black Jewels Trilogy. My go-to genre tends to be fantasy. reader (giuliana_reads) Hi! I'm Giuliana! I love YA books, as they take up a majority of what i read...I love really any good book that I can get into, whether it be fantasy, mystery/thriller, dystopian, or anything in between. Some favorites of mine include: "The Book Thief", "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue", "The Chemist", "The Outsiders", and the "Darkest Minds" series. I have read "The Chemist" by Stephanie Meyer probably ten times, even though my tbr is really long. I really love Alexandra Bracken books, John Green, and Victoria Aveyard books. Really, I just love YA books in general.

message 8287: by J.B. (new)

J.B. Caine (jbcaine) | 3 comments I'm a YA Paranormal author, but I also LOVE reading YA books. I do tend to gravitate toward paranormal stuff, but I also like thrillers, horror, mysteries, fantasy, and some dystopian. I confess to loving all the big names: Rowling, Riordan, Stine, Collins, etc.

The book that made me love paranormal/horror (and probably ultimately led me to writing in that genre) is JANE-EMILY by Patricia Clapp. It's a period ghost novel, and I read it when I was about 10...after that I was hooked on the spooky stuff!

I promise I read the author rules!

message 8288: by Mikala (new)

Mikala Grace Bucklin (mkbucklin) | 4 comments Hello!

I’m Mikala. I’ve always been a ‘nose-in-a-book’ kind of person, I think I’ve loved reading since I was a kid. But, I’m just getting back into it after a major head injury five years ago (I couldn’t focus on the words long enough). I’m a huge writer and I’ve been writing since I was young as well. I don’t have a specific genre I love to write, but my favorites are definitely Romance and Fantasy. If I had to choose a genre to read though it would definitely go to fantasy.
I’m a huge nerd, I love everything Marvel, Star Wars, and any other major franchises you can think of. I think the original Star Wars trilogy is a masterpiece and my favorite Marvel movie is definitely ‘Iron Man’. I’m also a gamer, and while I don’t have the ability to play many games (Mac user over here) I always feel happy watching others play them.
I’m glad I get to be in a community that enjoys things I enjoy because I have struggled to pick my head up out of books for long enough to make friends with similar interests. I’d love to be friends with you, shoot me a message and I’d love to talk to you!

Mikala

Emma L Beal (emmalbeal) Hi all :) I hope that you are having a lovely Thursday :)
I am a self published author of ten books - all of which can be found right here on Goodreads, as well as Amazon and my website / blog www.emmalbealauthor.com

My Thursday so far has consisted of:
Discovering that the fridge freezer has died over night and all of our food has defrosted (more upset about the ice lollies to be honest).
Research for current work in progress.
Ordered a new desk and chair (very much needed).
Eaten waaaaaaaay too many crisps (they are my weakness).
and last but not least: I got dressed - hee hee - I work from home so it's not required normally - is it?

Have a lovely day :)
Em.

My name is Brian Mayfield, I am 21 years old, and I love reading YA novels. My favorite YA? That's an easy one, Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry. It's set in a post-apocalyptical zombie-infested world, and follows two brothers who, over the course of the book, learn to love and respect each other. It's a great book!

I'm also looking to find others to chat with!
