Hi, I'm Caitlin! I have been reading young adult fiction for years and some of my favorite authors are Cassandra Clare, John Green, and Meg Cabot. I also love reading historical fiction and chick lit. I am currently reading "The Evening and the Morning" by Ken Follett.

My name is Therese and I love to read and I mostly read YA books. My absolute favorite books are Red queen by Victoria Aveyard and a court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas. Other books that I have read lately and enjoyed are Of curses and kisses by Sandhya Menon, The stars we steal by Alexa Donne and The shadow between us by Tricia Levenseller. And I mostly read fantasy, romance, retelling and historical fiction.

I've recently joined Goodreads though I've been reading for past few years. I love almost all genres and read whatever that catches my eye. My favourite books are The Book Thief and Harry Potter series.l

The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz was probably the most inspirational/influential books and author when I was growing up. Currently though my favorite books around now are Renegades (Marissa Meyer), The Maze Runner and Dry by Neal Shusterman.
I am also a writer, who is trying to develop a dystopian sci-fi trilogy =)

Looking for new friends, up for geeking out. I wanna try buddy reads.
Feel free to add me!

You guys really start off with hard stuff don't ya?
I can't tell you my favorite book or author of all time. So how about right now?
My name is Danielle Young and I am a YA author and avid reader (it is my fave to read)
Currently I'm loving on the An Ember in the Ashes Quartet (so ready for the last one in the set) so of course I am going to say Sabaa Tahir as my current favorite author. :)

My name is Therese and I love to read and I mostly read YA books. My absolute favorite books are Red queen by Victoria Aveyard and a court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas. Other books that I ..."
I love Sarah J Maas, my favorite by her is her Throne of Glass series, but I enjoyed a Court of Mist and Fury as well.

I actually joined Goodreads because I am working on my bachelor dissertation, which is about raising interest in young people to read more English and YA books. I am currently reading The boy who steals houses by C.G. Drews.
Do you have a must-read YA book? Don't be shy to recommend, I am happy to integrate some of your suggestions in my bachelor dissertation! :)

Throne of glass is also a favorite of mine though I haven't read the last two books but I love Sarah J Maas so I might have to do a reread before I do.

Estoy feliz de haber llegado a esta página, gracias!

I love Marie Lu, Warcross was excellent, never finished Young Elites, but I think that was because I wasn't ready for it. Definitely on my list though. I will have to give it another try. Welcome!

My name is Ishaan. And I'm very new to Goodreads and so far this community has been very welcoming, so, thank you for that.
Although I've had the account for two years, I've just started being active now.
I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy and young adult. I also found out about the concept of buddy reading which is still new to me but very exciting.
I started reading when I was 1.5 years old and my first real novel was "Hitchhiker's Guide". I'm a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series and all the other Riordan Spin-offs especially Trials of Apollo. My favorite books include The Lightning Thief, The Burning Maze, The Martian, The Alchemist and A study in Scarlet.
I'm also a writer btw, so, there's that. I published my debut novel in 2018. I'm currently reading Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and Yes, My accent is real by Kunal Nayyar.
Anyways, thank you everyone again :)

I live in India, and I absolutely LOVE reading .My favourite genre is YA (and a bit of mystery/adventure/science fiction...or, who am I kidding, everything). I like books by Cassandra Clare, Marie Lu and Rick Riordan, and I just finished the Folk of The Air trilogy by Holly Black...definitely reading more of her in the future ;)
I definitely don't know my fav book/author of all time, but right now it's probably Marie Lu/Cassandra Clare...I love Legend, and TID, and so many more series that I won't start naming cause my laptop will crash xD
So, yeah, I'm really looking forward to the BOTMs and the Buddy Reads...hope it works out!

Thank you!

My favourite books series are Harry Potter and The Infernal Devices series. I think HP is one of everyone's favourites but I loved The Infernal Devices for the world-building the series had and also the characters were everything for me.
A couple of honourable mentions include Hunger Games, The Folk of the Air and the Last Hours (still not fully out but Chain of gold is AMAZING).
My favourite stand-alone has to definitely be We Were Liars which I actually just finished reading three days ago. Honestly... I have no words. This book was generally very hyped and I can see why: if you haven't read this book yet I highly recommend this one. I'm not going to say anything because this book is best enjoyed without knowing anything about the plot.
The worst book series I have read has to be the Twilight series. I don't think anyone can top that masterpiece. The so-called 'romance' series is literally about a 100-year-old stalker. (If you like it, good on you, but this series is just not for me).
.....and the worst stand-alone book I've ever read is definitely the Night Circus. Honestly, this book got such good reviews that I was really looking forward to this one, but I really didn't get it or care enough about the characters or plot that the ending didn't move me as much as I'd liked.
But anyways guys, these are just my opinions and the great thing about books is that everyone has different opinions on the books they read, and in reality, no one is right or wrong.

I love reading and listening music. My favorite genre is probably Fantasy YA but sometimes I pick up other genres too. I am not guilty to say that I often buy books based on cover( I know I need to stop it.) Some of my all time favorites are The Folk of Air Series by Holly Black, TLH, TDA, TMA by Cassie and the Hunger Games. My first read was probably The Secret Garden and I still love it.
It feels like I have just discovered a whole new world on Goodreads. Looking forward to a lot of fun and reading.
Love,
Chaya

Hi everyone!
For those of you who don't already know me, I am WillHerondale7. I'm another stereotypical bookworm, who enjoys reading YA fantasy, sci-fi and dystopian! I haven't been on goodreads for very long, (I just recently joined a couple months ago) and I'm not very familiar with the community. Though, I'm hoping that will change! I look forward to meeting new people and making new friends!

i like ya romance ya fantasy and much more.❤️

I am a Young Adult Author and recently published my new novel, Crossing Lines
My Debut Novel, Spoken won a Readers' Favorite Award for Young Adult Social Issues in 2019. It is on sale in the Kindle store for 99 cents through Sunday. Would love you to check it out. Has 4.8/5 rating on Amazon.

My stories focus on a neurodiverse teenager, Hunter, who feels strongly motivated to do good deeds, but who struggles mightily as a result of his condition. He deals with increasingly more difficult issues through the series, starting with his own autism and bullying, and then to domestic abuse, depression, and even suicidality. All the while, he learns to control the auras around himself and others, putting the knowledge to good use.
My latest book, The Taste of Despair, is coming out soon and there is a giveaway! Feel free to add your name. You can also read the first few paragraphs in the write up: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...

romance novels. and Kayla, I like john green too. my favorite is fault in our stars.

Also, Hi Alex! John Green is a great author (I am obsessed with "Fault in our Stars"). And romance is fav too...
Welcome to you both...!

Brand new to Goodreads, so I'm still figuring things out. But, I do like YA, so here I am.
I'm not sure about overall, but a couple recent favorites of mine are Stephanie Garber's "Caraval" series and A.G. Howard's "Splintered" series. (Haven't finished either yet, but plan to.)
Caraval actually sparked a book idea that I am in the process of writing, but there is still a very long way to go.
Splintered inspired a photoshoot, which was incredibly fun. I highly recommend any form of creative outlet when inspiration strikes.

It is really good, you should read it.

I jumped the YA train recently, as I was brought up by mostly reading classics. I'm a pretty picky reader. Good YA books are really rare- I've consecutively DNFed 3 books (all with ecstatic ratings and HYPE), and I'm still searching.
My main requirement is logical and feasible worldbuilding - I'm particular about the "technical" aspects of storylines. I'm an addict to the clash of antithetical philosophies and the mechanics of a coherent political system. I also love it when the setting overall is intriguing - when it is both familiar yet new.
I've given up on YA characters. From what I've read so far, 90% of the female protagonists/leads are all "special snowflakes" with the Stockholm syndrome, that become thoughtless pursuers and limp rags whenever they meet the male lead. It's pretty pathetic, seeing them cry and whine about a man they barely even know. They're rumored to be deadly, cunning weapons, but all I see is contemptible weakness. The males aren't much better. They're all cut from the same cloth - dashing, devious, dark, and DUMB. The four Ds for the dudes. Side characters are all unmemorable cannon fodder, they live for the protagonists. Villains are diverse in YA books (not all of them are people), but most of them are flat embodiments of evil. All the characters have an IQ below 60.
Or maybe you have a "diverse" crew of unique people, each one carefully crafted from the circumstances that surround them. Sorry, I hate this type of story even more. I love it when it's well done, but it's really disgracing when authors butcher this (which is all the time). I want characters - humans - not bland stereotypes plastered with "diversified" labels. I love unique traits, but not when they define a character.
I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to the genre. Sci-fi, dystopian, romance (I'm tentative about that one), historical, fantasy -whatever -clothes don't change the person inside.
Language: oh boy. Honestly, there are so many YA authors that try to sound "lyrical" and "aesthetic" and it is so CRINGY. I don't need fancy eloquent language, I don't need metaphorical Twitter-esque sentences. I want a language that is proper English, reads easily (vocabulary and old English is not an issue for me), and works with the story. I'm an artist at heart, and I am an appreciator of beauty. (I ADORE the way Bradbury speaks through his lyrical passages in Fahrenheit 451.) But honestly, I would prefer simple, direct English over YA-authors-that-try-too-hard-to-sound-cool language any day.
I want a smart book. I want a book that pulls me in by itself - a book where I don't have to force myself to pick up the book turn the pages. I don't need a book that drags me from my bed and midnight and renders me ravenous after every page - just a book that I can enjoy and appreciate is enough.
If you have read this far, hats off to you! I certainly wouldn't have the patience to stick with childish rants attacking my favorite genre. Since you've come this far, I'll ask you one more favor - Do you have a recommendation?
Also, I know this is supposed to be an introduction, but I don't know where else to post this. I love chocolate. Sorry about that.

I am a book and poetry lover...
Some of my fav. books are All the bright places, Into the Water, One of us is lying, This lie will kill you and Harry Potter. I love reading Murder mysteries, Psychological dramas or Fantasy...
My fav. Authors are Karen M. Mc Manus, Paula Hawkins and Agatha Christie

I am Kareen Samuels. I am a debut author and I have two books out this year:
They Were Here Before
Zimera.
A pleasure to be apart of this great community.
Cheers

I am currently on track to publish my first novel, Samaritans, in a few months. I didn't aim for it to be YA, but my well of life experience as a YA has definitely had a marked influence on my writing.
I also write poetry. Songs for my musical friends, too. Science fiction and weird things are frequents for me.
I am engaged in getting my peers (18-25ish) to become interested in reading and gaining all the independence that comes with being a critically thinking reader.

P.S: I cannot believe I just said that 🤦♀️
