Caitríona Page (caitrionapage) | 1 comments I'm Kat. Been an avid reader since my teens, which sadly, has been a handful of years since.

I live in a self-converted camper van and before Covid was travelling the USA and Canada. I steer towards fantasy and science fiction. I do love a good vampire novel, and I will read romance but prefer the lighter side of things. Which is a big reason I prefer YA/NA over much of the grittier, more "adult" novels out there.

Outside of reading I'm a mountain biker, sword fighter, and all around nerd.

Abbie (abbs132) | 2 comments Hey, I'm Abbie and I'm a huge lover of YA, fantasy, horror and romance books. I don't have a favourite book but I love The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvator and Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. I have recently started reading again and I remember exactly why I loved reading.

K.T. Anglehart (ktanglehart) | 5 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Katrina. I love YA fiction because I think teenage characters are in a constant battle between racing towards adulthood and wanting to hold onto their magical childlike perception of the world…and that can make for some amazing fictional moments.

I’m a book editor, which is awesome because that means that I get to read some pretty incredible work. I enjoy writing YA urban fantasy and paranormal fiction. My first book, The Wise One, will be released this October, and I’m so excited about it. I’d love to connect with fellow writers and readers who are into reading YA urban fantasy and YA paranormal fiction.

Stephanie Finsterbush | 9 comments Hi! I'm Stephanie. I'm a writer and a reader, but I mostly read cause writings hard haha. I kind of read books from all the genres although rarely do I read a romance. I also haven't read a lot paranormal romance either other than twilight. Just not my personal taste.

I love sci-fi fantasy although I haven't read much in those genres please hit me up with some book recommendations outside of the big ones like Lunar Chronicles or Harry Potter if you got any. :)

There are so many good ones!
– The Starless Sea
– American Gods
– The Ten Thousand Doors of January
– A Discovery of Witches

Those are the first ones that came to mind. They represent a pretty broad scope within the genre. If you're interested in reading an advanced reader copy of my book (The Wise One), let me know!

:-)

Hey! I just joined today. I'm trying to fall back in love with reading. After graduating, it left me in a slump.

My favourite book is Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I've been dabbling in different genres over the recent years, but I always have a soft spot for YA, especially those that involve the supernatural.

Stanlei Bellan | 4 comments Hey, Stanlei here,

An avid reader of many, many, many genres, but with a special place in my heart for series like Hunger Games, Divergent, and some old books that would be called YA if there were such a category back then, like The Chronicles of Narnia. Neil Gaiman, Tolkien and C.S Lewis are among my favorite authors.

Cody George | 1 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Cody George and I'm a self-pub'd author attempting to step into the YA genre. Does anyone have any suggestions for whimsical Urban Fantasy books?

My favorite authors hardly match what I write: Isaac Asimov, Phillip K Dick, Andre Norton, and more recently Jonathan Stroud.

Emma Hey! My name is Emma and I'm 17. I'm gonna be honest I have only read about 10 books out of choice in the past 10 years, but, recently I've wanted to start getting into reading so I thought if I joined a group on Goodreads that might help motivate me.
My favourite book series' are The Divergent Series, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Maze Runner Series.

Ishaan Bohra | 32 comments Hey guys! My name is Ishaan. I'm a debut author who fell in love with YA when he first read The Lightning Thief. I use books as an escape hatch from the real world. I'm always looking for new inspiration in the world to incorporate into my books. I love the rain, coffee and pakoras. I'm a college goer (Engineering). Annabeth and Elsa were my first crushes. Percy Jackson became a huge part of my life and Uncle Rick's writing style was a heavy inspiration on me. I love all his stories. I have recently started looking at Cassandra Clare's books and a new book called Red Queen which is heavily recommended for some reason... so I plan to read that shortly as well. and I guess that sums it up then.

Cheers!

message 6976: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Thayer (chelsea_wilsonthayer) | 1 comments HELLO YA fans!

I've always been addicted to reading YA and writing has forever been my hobby. I'm thrilled to announce my debut novel, coming out next month:

What Cat Lost|55311558]
What Cat Lost by Chelsea Wilson Thayer

This contemporary romance is set two places I've lived (and loved): the mountains of Western NC and NYC.

Readers are saying:
"This book is truly a rollercoaster. Just when you think you have the plot figured out, something else unfolds. An amazing book I would strongly recommend reading!"

"Loved this book so much! Of course, I cried in it! Could not put it down! Can't wait to see what happens on Cat's journey! Hurry and write another one!"

""What Cat Lost" held my attention from the moment I read the first word. Doubly heart-warming and heart-wrenching, I genuinely felt like I could relate to the main characters as I continued to learn more about them within each chapter. Needless to say, I cannot wait for the next book!!"

"This book is a very modern day high school love story that deals with a lot of cut-to-the-bone topics that are too important not to be addressed in today’s climate. Thayer accurately creates real life situations in which constructive conversations are easily able to be created between readers."

Ishaan Bohra | 32 comments Hey Guys!

My name is Ishaan. I'm a book lover like all of you though I also play video games and binge Netflix as well. I'm a writer as well. My debut book Son Of Mars: Origins is based on the very first human-martian superhero who goes on a journey to find the truth about his parents. I'm also writing another one set in the same universe as well as working on a thriller focusing on the duo of twin brothers.

Other than that, I go to university and study mechatronics. I play a little badminton as well.

My favorite books would be Rick Riordan's PJ series, The Martian, The Alchemist and last but not the least, Sherlock Holmes' The Sign Of Four.

I also read comic books btw. DC comics.

message 6980: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Wallace | 10 comments Hello! My name is Lynn Wallace and I write books that are YA/ new adult (but more on that in the appropriate folder). I love YA books - I love the emotional dynamics that come from a younger character group, I love all the "new" experiences that come around that age (first love, first time going out into the world, etc), and I love that YA romances don't feature sex the way adult books do. (All that, of course, explains a lot of what I write! XD) I prefer fantasy/ paranormal stories. I loved Twilight (currently enjoying Midnight Sun!) and The Lunar Chronicles, my husband and I both love Percy Jackson (anything by Rick Riordan, really), and I'm looking forward to trying out the Fallen series and the Mortal Instruments series sometime soon :-).

message 6981: by Jesse (new)

Jesse Longoria (jesselongoria23) Hey guys! I’m Jesse and this is my first group. I’m currently reading Hocus Pocus and the all new sequel (because Halloween!), and I just finished Midnight Sun. I love pretty much anything fantasy, especially with witches and magic. I guess it's no surprise that my first book obsession was with the Harry Potter series. Right now I'm trying to read everything I can get my hands on and An Ember in the Ashes is next on my TBR.

Skylar Burnett (classicsky) | 2 comments Hello guys, my name is Skylar and over the last few months I’ve been trying to get back into reading.

I’m not sure if I can pick a favorite author, but I have read quite a few of Cassandra Clare’s books.

My favorite book would probably have to be The Host by Stephenie Meyers because when I had a copy of it I would reread every so often. The story itself just seemed to stick with me a lot.

message 6990: by Amy (new)

Amy Bernstein | 6 comments Hi, YA readers. I've seen a lot of comments (not here) that too many YA books are too dark--that there's too much violence, danger, depression, etc. Do you think so? I think kids and teens are going through so much today, they understand the darker side of life--as long as there's some hope too. I tried to strike that balance in my novel, which centers on a teen coping with tragedy--and finding a way to start over. Ping me for a free copy. Reviews would thrill me.

I agree as well. I don't like YA that is real dark and also don't like YA that has no message to it but just like a meet cute. I recently read Jeff Garvin and liked his book The Lightness of Hands a lot. I write YA with a social action message but also a love story as I think love makes the world go round!
