I try to buy and read a new book every month so I am happy to see this challenge here going on :) My favourite books as of now are The Raven King, ACOTAR, Cruel Prince, Six of Crows, Cinder and hopefully Shadow and Bone (*fangirling over the netflix series*) which I just bought and can't wait for it to arrive.
I hope to find new friends here who share same crazy love for books as me! Happy reading everyone :)

message 6361: by Zoe Alice (new)

Zoe Alice Hi I'm Zoe, I'm relatively new to Goodreads. Most of the books I like are in the YA genre, though I wouldn't go as far to say that YA as a whole is my favourite genre, if you know what I mean. My favourite book is the Book Thief, because it was the first book to make me cry, and I don't have a favourite author per se, although I do like Cassandra Clare books and Rainbow Rowell books.

I am so attached to books and that’s why I have only one friend, and she is a librarian who’s older than me LOL. My favorite books are Lord of the Rings, See You In The Cosmos, Eragon, Salt to the Sea, Divergent, Scythe, One For The Murphys, Throne of a Glass, The Goose Girl, Turtles all the way down, and so many more! I made a list, and it’s almost 60 pages long (30 front&back). I love almost any book, unless it’s Dork Diaries or monster high or whatever.

message 6366: by rachel ✨ (new)

rachel ✨ (rachelrieann) | 4 comments Hey! I'm Rachel! I like to read (obviously), creative writing, photography, being active, and adventuring. Favorite writer is Marie Lu (currently). My favorite book is Alex, Approximately (also currently).
I set my Goodreads goal low since I'm a college student. I read mostly YA, but I'm open minded to anything. I also read some poetry. I would like to get into graphic novels. I don't remember the last time I read one.
Feel free to add me! I accept almost anyone! I need more people to talk books to as well!!

message 6367: by Mattias (last edited Mar 09, 2020 02:04AM) (new)

Mattias Lönnqvist (mlonnqvist) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Mattias and I joined this group because I enjoy YA (obviously) and preferably YA in Fantasy. I saw this as a good place to get suggestions on things to read.

I live in Sweden, and I mostly read and write in Swedish, so I try to go for Swedish writers or translations to Swedish. But when there is no Swedish translation or when it is OOP (like The Changeover) I read in English. I read YA both because I like to read it, and because my books are considered YA by some Swedish libraries, but I will refrain from advertising myself here :)

Favorite author is Gail Carriger, and in particular Finishing school, which is the kind of series I wish I could have written. And yes, I like steam punk if it is done well, which Gail usually does. Right now I would like to read Margaret Rogerson (and in particular Sorcery of Thorns) but I am holding it off, hoping for a Swedish translation. With my TBR-pile it's not like I am lacking books to read.

Since I have a long TBR of books (in general, and of YA) in English I mostly welcome suggestions on books written in other languages than English. Either in Swedish, or translated to Swedish or English.

Holding a teen book club sounds like such a fun and rewarding thing. Encouraging kids to read more while also getting to talk about books with like-minded people.

message 6387: by Melissa81 (new)

Melissa81 Hi, I'm Melissa! Hailing from Canada. I used to be a huge book snob, and pretty much (for my entire adult life) exclusively read high end literature, anything on the Man Booker list, or the Giller list, etc.

Until last year when a friend loaned (and begged me to read) The Queen of the Tearling... and the rest is history. I literally can not get enough YA fantasy. It's borderline embarrassing lol.

Looking forward to reading everyone's posts and getting some new recommendations!

message 6389: by Géraldine (new)

Géraldine Simon | 0 comments Hi, I'm Geraldine, I'm French, but I read English books for several years now. First, because I wanted to improve myself in this language, and second, I want to read what the author had written ans not the traduction of it.

So, I'm a reader addict, like most of the people who's there it seems. I read a lot of ya books and I don't remember all I've read. But I loved Eragon series, I discovered recently Sarah J. Maas, and I enjoyed very well her. Is there really ya anyway???

Looking forward to share (take and give recommendations). Always have 20 many books to read after the one you have !

message 6390: by nada (new)

nada | 1 comments Hi, I'm Nada! I've always loved books ever since I read the Harry Potter series when I was in grade 6, but lately it's becoming an obsession. I literally can NOT stay for more than a couple of days without having a book that I'm reading, I just can't help it! I mostly read fantasy and romance, give me anything with fae and I'm hooked, lol. Anywayyy my biggest dilemma is that none of my real life friends like reading (despite all my hardest efforts! ugh, the nerve of some people), and I think all this pent up energy from not being able to talk to anyone about any of my favorite books is slowly killing me, so here's to finding some friends that will understand all my book drama shenanigans!
