Always up for book recommendations and would be happy to make some more friends on here :) I'm a huge Harry Potter fan - Slytherin ofc - and I love pretty much anything YA / Fantasy. ari (mapleleafz) | 222 comments Hello everyone! I'm Arianna and I've been reading since third grade. I made goodreads last year in the beginning of the year, but I decided now would be a good time to actually start using it and keeping track of my books. My favorite book is a really hard question, although I have to say "The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue" by Mackenzi Lee is my favorite book right now. I just can't simply get enough! But my favorite author is 100% Cassandra Clare. Her books got me out of a really rough spot in my life and she even replied to my Instagram message. I love her a lot and she cares a lot about her fans <3.

Steph is: Pageturning578 (stephw1991) Hi, my name is Stephanie I am 28 and I love to read YA. I have been a member of this group for a while but I haven't been active due to college and not having time for pleasure reading.

I am now getting back into reading and I'm looking to get more active on goodreads again and I thought this group would be a good place to start!

There are so many books out there that I have missed over the years that its hard to keep up or know what to look for so right now I am re-reading the Harry Potter series for the first time as an adult and I am loving it!

I am looking for recommendations on new books but I am mainly looking for some new friends to talk books with! My favorite series include Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, and Divergent to name a few...Lately I've been reading YA Contemporary but like I said I'm open to recommendations!

message 6163: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Newland | 8 comments Hello! My name Sarah and YA fiction is my favorite genre. I love adventure/coming-of-age style books with a touch of fantasy and sci-fi thrown in.

Some of my favorite books/series are Harry Potter (of course), Pendragon by D.C. MacHale, InkHeart, and Eragon. I actually agreed to go on the first date with my now husband following a long debate on the ending of the Inheritance Cycle (what makes a better foundation for a relationship than literature?!)

I am currently branching out to explore more adult titles written by my favorite YA authors (Rowling, Roth, and Meyer specifically), but I am most at home in the YA scene and am often reading more than one book at once.

As a side note, I also just released my own YA fiction novel, EXTANT, which you can find more about by investigating my author profile.

I love GoodReads for keeping track of my to-read list (which is constantly growing) and connecting with other readers who share the same fandom-passion for my favorite titles. Always open to recommendations!

Hobey-Ho (for my fellow Pendragon fans) and happy reading!

Molina (molina19) Hello!! My name is Molina and I am a recent college graduate. In my free time, I love to read feel-good, funny, cutsie YA or contemporary novels. I'm a huge Cassie Clare, Harry Potter and Sandhya Menon fan (I'm on her Street Team)! I joined Goodreads to explore other books to read, post my opinions about books that I love, and to connect with others who love to read the same books I do. Lastly, when I start a book, and the first couple chapters have me hooked, I usually finish the entire thing. I'm really bad at stopping midway and continuing later. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just finished The Boy in the Woods: Spookshow 9 for my 48th book in my GoodReads Challenge.

Sometimes I do not like some of his books but I will read the book anyway. Also, sometimes I find myself skipping parts in a book because they are way to descriptive.

Hannah Sandoval | 4 comments Hi, everyone. Happy to be here. I'm a professional ghostwriter and editor operating under my own business, PurpleInkPen. My YA fantasy novel, Arcamira, is coming out in March 2020 from Cosmic Egg Books. It’s a fantasy-paranormal crossover wherein classic high fantasy species like elves, fairies, and griffins face off paranormal monsters like vampires and werewolves. Some of my all-time favorite authors are Stephen King and Cassandra Clare, and a new favorite is Stuart Turton. If we’re talking poetry, I’m all about Poe. Some tidbits about me: I’m the mother of a wild toddler, I own the sassiest corgi known to man, I married my high school sweetheart, and I identify heavily with Hermione Granger.

Hannah Sandoval | 4 comments Erika wrote: "What's your name? Favorite book? Author?" Hi Erika! My Name is Hannah and my favorite book and author... Anything by Stephen King. My ranked favorites and my reviews: https://hannahsandovalauthor.com/2019.... Fav things about his writing style: the way he uses the very nature of fear to fuel his themes, his ability to authentically write children, his unflinching examination of the most frightening aspects of human nature (in worlds where heinous monsters exist, humans still often commit the largest atrocities when tested by evil, but his heroes, though never perfect, always rise above).

Nomita Khanna | 1 comments Hi like-minded folks. I love reading psychological thrillers and that's probably why I've written one - ROSÉ'S... BENT STEM: Girl Tangled. The Tribune calls it the 'Best thriller of 2019 by an Indian author,' and it is a best seller on Amazon India.

My name is Nomita Khanna and this chilling book with a publication date of Sept. 30, 2019 is for those who like to be haunted long after they have read the last page. Young adults can check it out. Here's the Amazon India link with a 4-star-plus rating and 80 reviews:

US residents can enter the book's giveaway. The giveaway is currently live on the site, you can check it out here:

https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...

ROSÉ'S... BENT STEM is a suspense thriller based on true events.

Tana, a diligent, young nurse with a troubled childhood, can’t believe her luck when she finds Vikram, a rich widower who says she is the ‘love of his life’.

The strong attraction quickly turns into something else, unraveling her life. Nightmares that wrecked her childhood are back—and ripping her world apart. Evil has already claimed victims. Is it about to take another?

As the four walls of her majestic Lutyens bungalow begin to close in on her, she spirals down into a dungeon. In this twisted world with betrayal at every step, she decides not to stay miserable and becomes the person she never thought she could be. The path to escape is swarming with grisly ambushes and ... intrigue.

No one really knows what happens behind closed doors or what goes inside a person’s mind. How far will someone go to protect their secrets or to get what they want? Farther than anyone can imagine. PEOPLE ARE UNKNOWABLE.

message 6190: by Alex (new)

Alex Miller Hello, I'm alex. I really enjoy reading YA books, because enjoying reading in general means liking all kinds of books but there are a lot of them that take time to digest and time to think about. YA, as my friend mentioned to me first year in college, is good to read to just flip through something, feel accomplished about it, and not think so much about it. It helps that, as someone who prefers physical copies to electronic copies that YA is cheaper than the standard fantasy equivalent, which is nice. My current read in the YA category is Bitterblue, by Kristin Cashore, in her Graceling Realm series. I'm enjoying it a bunch, especially compared to the other books in the series, and it's over 500 pages and yesterday i plowed through to page 343, so it will be done soon. One of the books I'll read soon is the Queen of nothing, which is a book on this forums list currently, and I look forward to using the list in the next year to help me discover new authors, rediscover old authors, and just have a good time.

Cynthia Haggard (cynthiasallyhaggard) Hello Everyone,
I'm gradually becoming a fan of YA, making a move from adult Historical Fiction to Historical Fantasy, Historical YA. I loved "The Hunger Games," and am also a big fan of Jeff Wheeler, especially his "Harbinger" series.
I've been an avid reader all my life, especially historical fiction. When I was a child, I would lie on my bed for 3 hours and...escape!
I should mention that I am the author of 2 historical novels: "Thwarted Queen" and "Farewell My Life," unfortunately too adult in their content to be YA. My reason for joining this group is because I'm thinking of becoming a YA author. Any advice greatly appreciated!
